A new kind of Coronavirus infection map

There are a lot of coronavirus dashboards out there using a world map, so I wanted to put a unique spin on it by abstracting the regions into a smaller area. This visualization plots geography in a radial hierarchy using d3.js, where the opacity of links is bound to the infection count in each region.

This chart is now available at coroviz.com. It pulls from Johns Hopkins University's Github, so the shape of the visualization will evolve over time.

Awesome visualization, would be cool if a "rewind" slider were available if time dependent data is being available.
Plotting similar outbreaks (SARS & MERS) could be great as well.

Indeed, I've been experimenting with time lapse but still a work in progress.
