A new project - Would you use it?
I'm currently creating a social media application solely based on sound bites. The purpose of this app is to allow genuine conversation, free speech, and entertainment through the medium of simple sound clips. Users will post into categories created by other users and comments are text and audio based.
Id love some feedback from you guys on:
- Is this something you see yourself using
- Do you see any overall problems with this idea?

I've been using a similar app called Airr for having voice note conversations and I think it's an interesting concept, but haven't quite been sold on it yet.
Personally, I prefer text messages because I can glance at the content quickly whereas for voice notes I have to listen to the whole thing which is a bigger time commitment (and I have to find my headphones to listen). This may seem trivial, but the seconds add up when you're having a few conversations a day.
I don't think voice notes will replace normal text conversations, but I do have a hunch that there are specific use cases where voice notes are preferable.
Airr is an interesting app, I love it.
And I agree with the time thing, it definitely is more of a commitment.
One thing I'm implementing is background play for sonar. You'll be able to play the first post in your follower feed and close your phone as it plays through the posts that day. This may help with the commitment thing a little, you can drive or multitask while listening, but there are definitely still problems with that.
