A new way to validate your idea.

Hey! 😊
I’ve had some free time lately so I put together a little side project just for fun. I realized however that it might have the potential for usefulness and decided to share it with you – quite ironic because the purpose of the website is validating ideas.

Just want to check it out without reading? - land-ified DOT com (can't use links yet)

--- The Problem 👎 ---
Landified aims to solve a simple problem: For every successful new product on Product-Hunt (a platform for new products) there are 100 unsuccessful ones. The less successful products see sometimes hundreds of hours of work quite simply – down the drain.

--- The Solution 👍 ---
Landified! A social network where you can submit a post about the problem you’re trying to solve and your idea for a solution/product.
As soon as you submit your idea and fill in a few blanks you automatically get an awesome landing page with an illustration that fits your category. You can easily edit the content of the landing page and add images of your own. All pages share the design, the illustrations, the code and the search engine optimization.

--- Why Did I Build it? 🤷‍♂️ ---
I found myself building lots of websites for new ideas and spent hours designing, programming, optimizing and searching for free illustrations to use. Even with web builders, the process took me hours. I decided to create a template where I could just input text and be done. That’s it.

--- Landified Features 👌 ---
Landified helps you validate your idea in two ways:
👉 Feedback. We as entrepreneurs can give feedback quickly and easily by liking and commenting on posts. Live discussion can help me and you make sure we are not working for nothing.
👉 Advertising! The money you save by not building a website from scratch can go towards a low budget advertising campaign that will get data points based on the number of people who show interest by leaving their emails. (Soon there will be an option to pre-sell your product).

--- FAQ ---
❔ - How is this any different from Product-Hunt?
❕ - Product-Hunt is for finished products. Landified is for little baby ideas.

❔ - How is that different from any other community for sharing ideas?
❕– Firstly, you are getting a Landing page. Secondly, Landified requires the user to fill out a form that will help the user to understand himself what he is trying to do and then will help us as a community to help him.

❔ - Why would I share my ideas, someone will Zuckerberg me?
❕- There always a risk of ‘idea stealing’. In my understanding, an idea alone is nothing and what matters is execution, good team, marketing, timing, and more.

❔ – If all the websites look the same what’s the point?
❕ - If you are familiar with Dribbble, you probably know that each designer gets a portfolio and the only difference is the content. I believe that you should be unique in your solution and not your fancy website.
That being said, I can't ignore the fact that having the same website might not be ideal.
For this reason, the illustrations are different in each category and you can add your custom images, illustrations, and logo through the website. Soon I hope to add a ‘theme’ feature to customize the color scheme.

❔ - The illustrations are from Shutterstock!
❕ - Not exactly. I approached the creator personally and asked his permission to use them. He gave me written permission and nothing is through Shutterstock.
All the illustrations used on the website are legally AOK.

--- Important Notes ---
👉 There are a few bugs that I know about, but I would be happy to hear about any bug you find!
👉 I would love to hear your suggestions for improvements and feature requests.

What did you use to build the website? It looks so cool.
I just can't figure out how it works, if I want to comment on the ideas I have to create an account, is that it?

    1. 1

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words
That's correct. In order to comment you need to open an account (I think it kind of a convention in many websites)

I used reactjs to build it 😄

Haha I wasn't trying to diss it, I was just pointing out that it's not clear.
On kickstarter or Indiegogo you can browse through the projects and only create an account later.
Same as on product hunt, I think if you can give a bit more info before asking to register it would be easier to use. Or let users build their landing page first then register afterwards.
I was a bit confused both as someone with an idea I want to test or as someone who wants to comment.
Did you make the illustrations too? They're so cool :)

I loved the design and the concept. I think that a payment feature would be great.
Do you plan to launch such a feature soon?

    1. 1

Thanks, Eliana. I hopefully will implement the payment feature soon
