A news agent to easily follow anything you care about

I often struggle to keep up with the fields I’m interested in. Sometimes I spend an hour or more jumping between tech news sites, X, and LinkedIn, only to feel like I’ve gained nothing.

That got me wondering: what if I could build a news tracker that gathers news from across the internet and just works for me?

So I built this, a personal news agent that follows your instructions. You just type in what you want to follow, like “recent crypto big things”, and the app will use AI to pull updates every few hours. It only fetches what you tell it to.

We launched on the App Store two days ago and just hit 300 downloads. A huge thanks to IH community! We've seen some use cases we expected and some we didn’t at all during our launch:

  • Tracking the latest research papers in very niche domains

  • Creating 30+ topics, some about industries, others about sports teams, specific types of movies, and more (the number surprised me)

  • Adult content (please don’t try it, we don’t support that at all right now lol)

If you have any interesting ideas for how you’d use the app, please let me know. It would be fun to brainstorm and build together!

This is such a genuine product. You've perfectly captured that travel planning burnout that comes from having too many options. The 'Surprise Me!' feature is especially brilliant—it's like a childhood dream of getting to visit a place you didn't even have to choose. A really awesome idea.

Out of curiosity, what's your biggest challenge right now with keeping all the travel data accurate and up-to-date?

Just downloaded—love it. 🙌 One wishlist: an AI layer that learns my niches and surfaces “jump-in” threads + suggested angles/replies so I can engage deeper on topics I care about.

Also, I'm piloting a lightweight synthetic-user interview tool to pressure-test value props before you drive traffic. Happy to run a quick pass on your product and share the readout. If helpful, ping me (email in my bio/joy [at] inspirix [dot] ai) or drop yours here ;D

Love the simplicity of your approach. Feels like a tool that can actually save time instead of adding more tabs to my life. Great job on building something so useful!

That’s such a relatable problem, I often find myself bouncing between tabs and feeds just trying to stay updated, only to end up feeling overwhelmed instead of informed.

What you’ve built sounds genuinely useful. I love the idea of a personalized news agent that actually respects your intent and doesn’t add to the noise. The use cases you shared, from niche research to hyper-specific interests, make a lot of sense. It’s cool that you’re already seeing real people use it in ways you didn’t expect (and yeah, the internet will internet 😂).

Wishing you continued momentum, and I’m excited to see how this evolves!

Nice work hitting 300 downloads already! 🚀

I’ve tried building small personal trackers before, but they always felt too noisy or unfocused. Your “only fetch what you tell it to” approach sounds really promising.

Curious: how well does it handle “fast-changing” areas like crypto or AI, where dozens of articles come out every hour?

    1. 1

hey we are fetching the news on a 2-hrs frequency in the future will increase the frequency. feel free to give a try and let me know if that works for you!

Love this idea! I usually waste a lot of time switching between sources and end up feeling the same. Congrats on the launch and hitting 300 downloads 🎉

I’m building a project too and planning to add a news section. Your approach sounds like it could fit really well. Maybe we could even collaborate at some point

But what was you approach to find this niche/demand?

    1. 1

do you mean how I found people need this? this comes from my own experience and my observation on my coworkers (I worked in payments so people there need to follow industry news quite often)

      1. 1

hhm....so you had real potential users and real demand from them? But I suppose that was not 100+ coworkers? How did you scale after launch?

what is the link please? :)

        2. 1

for sure. I got a lot of uses from reddit and got real feedback. people from the internet already been using it for days. there's for sure a real demand.

          1. 1

ok, so Reddit gave you traffic / audience. But how did you find proper subreddits? They banned me when I tried to self-promote :(

    Congrats on the launch 🚀

I really feel the pain point here — I waste so much time jumping between Twitter/X, newsletters, and random blogs, and end up feeling like I didn’t actually learn anything.

Curious how customizable it is right now: can I fine-tune the “agent” to avoid generic news and only pull from specific sources I trust?

Also, props on hitting 300 downloads in 2 days — that’s solid momentum.

hey thanks! right now we can't support limit the sources, but this is in our roadmap!
