I’m not going to build this product. (My hands are full, and I’m wary of building a marketplace.) That said, I think there’s an opportunity for someone else to.
My friend and I are working on Emetti. A notable part of this is the newsfeed. This feature is useful for highlighting product updates, special offers, and other news. You can see the kind of content that goes into a newsfeed on this site.
One thing I’ve noticed while working in this product, is that while some companies see the value in it, few have the resources to stay on top of content. As such, we’re often asked to help them come up with story ideas, write posts, and prepare associated graphics. (Curiously, this work pays out better than the tool we built.)
It strikes me that a lot of overwhelmed business owners have this problem in common: They don’t have enough time to note what they’re doing (either on a newsfeed like this, or on social media). That said, this information is important for bringing visitors back to their website—and seeing that they’re doing interesting things.
So, I think there’s probably an opportunity here to offer a productized service in which you offer to help a business produce a set number of stories a month. I think this goes beyond just writing articles—and would need more focus on the content strategy/calendar piece.
I don’t consider this an easy business to run. However, from the few I’ve talked to about it, there seems to be a general tone of “please do this and take my headache away.”
Thanks so much for sharing this, I wholeheartedly understand the pain of feeling a little overwhelmed with commitments to "reach out", "write the article" and so on.
Can I ask you a few questions about this? Would love to get your insights + thanks again for posting!

Happy to answer any questions. My email is karj@smashlab.com
How open are these companies to hire outside help to do this for them instead of having an in-house team to take care of this?
The ones I spoke with just wanted to wash their hands of this work. The costs of hiring an in-house team are non-trivial, so, often this work is left to those who’d rather do something else.
