When I look back at the times I cancelled a product subscription for another one based on price...
One thing was clear.
It wasn't that the price was too high that I couldn't pay or the product won't give me the necessary returns needed to justify payments ...
It was that I thought I was overpaying. That subtle point made all the difference.
This is what I mean, if AHREFS offer feature x, y and z for $100 and I only use feature y...
I would be highly dissatisfied compared to another person who pays SEMRUSH ( AHREFS competitor) $100, for ONLY feature y.
That is, people feel fine paying $100 for only one feature than paying same $100 for 5 features when they only use 1 out of it.
Irrational?
Maybe.
However, You can fight against human nature or you can leverage it by:
Avoid building irrelevant features.
Educate your customers how to use your product features to the fullest...
By connecting all features to relevant use cases.
All begins with knowing your customers and their specific situational context.
