A PROBLEM we all suffer with Everyday?

Cognitive Dissonance:

Cognitive dissonance is when OUR VALUE and Believe system is not align with OUR actions or OUR VALUE and Believe system is be challenged.

And when something goes against our VALUE and Believe system it causes distress which is called dissonance.

That's is why YOU see many people when their VALUE and Believe system is challenged they experience a distress which is often released in anger or denying it.

Most of us have our VALUE and Believe system influenced by the environment we live in and by the company we have.

And now those concepts have sub-consciously became a part of our mind and are now influencing our actions.

Many of us don't ever get to question those VALUE and Believe system, are they even right or wrong?

The more important the belief is, the more discomfort it will cause.

“Some people may experience it more intensely or frequently if they have a high need for consistency in their lives,” Dr. Leikam says. And recognising and addressing those negative thoughts or emotions is important.

“Some people rationalise their behaviour and others just deny it,” Johnson says.

And denying it, is not the solution.

Everyday We all get a opportunity to face Cognitive dissonance.

I consider it a OPPORTUNITY to self-awareness.

How YOU can deal with Cognitive dissonance effectively is:

1-Changing from Our VALUE and Believe system determine our ACTIONS to OUR ACTIONS determine our VALUE and Believe system

Or

2-Working on our VALUE and Believe system and trying to change it

Question WHY behind YOUR VALUE and Believe system?

Is it influenced by society, environment or inner morality, VALUE?

By adopting this point of view, we can change those sub-consciously fed concepts.

When someone faces Cognitive dissonance "Something has to give up - either it is action or Value and belief system".

If he/she is not open to change, he/she will:

1-avoid learning new information that goes against their existing beliefs
2-shy away from conversations or debates about specific topics
3-Justify their action and belief is right

I personally think changing the action is a more good way to deal with cognitive dissonance as it allows YOU to question YOUR Value and belief system.

Cognitive dissonance has some positive effects too as it helps YOU being self-aware of YOUR VALUE and Belief System and YOU can use it as tool to develop YOURSELF where YOU are under-developed

This is something we all come across with it every day

Most people just deny those things which are challenging their Value and belief system and hence putting a barrier at their growth or having a different perspective to the same Topic which opens them to a new world, a different perception, a different approach.

And I hope this post will help YOU...

I would love to see YOUR opinion on this topic in comment section.

What's YOUR approach of dealing with it?

Thanks
