A project-based job board
I wanted to put this out here since indie hackers in particular might be in a good position to use it.
Idea: A job board for devs where you're only allowed to share projects you've built (code+live demo if available). You get hired on that (plus behavior/culture fit obviously) and not your education, experience or leetcode skills.
The premise of this job board, unlike others, is instead of trying to match a person with X years of experience to a job, we match projects to jobs. So maybe its more suitable for contract/short term gigs.
An example might help: instead of a recruiter trying to look for a React developer with 3 years of experience, they might say, 'show me projects done using React with a Python flask API'. From this they can filter on projects that match what they are looking for and ultimately identify candidates they want to talk to.

I am not trying to be negative, just trying to help. I cannot see how this would work for my case. For example I am dev with many years of development under the belt in both front and backend. Most of my projects were under NDA and cannot be shown. Additionally some of them are done for big corporates so again I did just bits of those and cannot share them.
How this would help a professional like me to be hired from this platform?
Maybe it will suit freelancers who are doing small - mid size projects?
Yeah it wouldn't. This is supposed to cater to devs who have projects they can show off and use that to be hired. It's just another way to get hired.

Nice! I like the branding and website. Very slick! Maybe you can be more specific in your messaging about 'how it works' to get the value prop across. The language is a bit wooey wooey and hard to see how this would be different than a Moonlight.
We are mostly in stealth at the moment so I won't be sharing too much, but we are solving exactly the problem that you've described. Expect first public preview in late September.

I think we're still different in the way we are targeting the user. I am coming from the point of view of the person hiring trying to find candidates that can come in and add value from day 1 based on the project they've done. You're focusing on creating a community for the person trying to get hired where they can share the work done and support each other. It's probably the better approach since a lot of the (at least recent) successful products are community-driven.
I find the idea original.
It's like showing the portfolio of similar projects you've done.
The biggest problem I see is how to generate the content to make the matches
Perhaps it could be useful to allow users to upload their project portfolio for free, and allow them to use your platform to list their projects. Like a linkedin, but of projects.
Then people can find you for similar projects.
Oh yes it'll be free for users to build a portfolio of projects. I can monetize by charging recruiters (more typical on job boards) for access (expanded search results/messaging functionality etc).
Hey @seattlehacker I think that's a cool idea. Although I'm not a coder. I think there are a lot of inflated CVs out there and this is a good way to rectify that. The only thing is if you're wanting to grow your skills and take on a new project outside your comfort zone... i.e. do something you haven't done before... how would that work/look?
That would be even better because then you can show case your skills ('look at this React app I built!'). It could potentially allow new devs to get more attention. And it could expand the pool of candidates recruiters usually look in.
