A quick story about why we're building Skoolit.

A few months ago, I got a call from my kid's school. I'd missed a field trip permission form. The deadline had passed. She couldn't go on the trip. The email was there in my inbox — buried under 47 other emails, 12 of which were also from the school.

I'm not disorganized. I'm not a bad parent. I have a demanding job and a full life and I try hard. But the volume of information coming at parents from schools is genuinely unmanageable with the tools we have. An email inbox was not designed for this.

That's the moment Skoolit was born from.

Not "let's build an app." But: "why does this still work this way? Why is the default that parents are the ones responsible for processing every piece of school communication manually, at the end of already-long days?"

We think there's a better way. We think a parent's phone should just know — without them having to check — what's coming up, what's needed, and what's handled.

That's what we're building. And we're sharing every step of the way.
