"brings you closer to real" is their tagline. My question is how close?
low-code tools like Bubble and AppGyver let you build "real proper functioning actual working" solutions in a very fast drag and drop way. So why would I use Framer that only gets me "close"?
Great question!
Framer can act as a great first step of validation. It's the fastest way you can prototype an idea and use it in order to get a feeling of how it will look and work like.
In no case it can replace the validation you will get by building the real product using no-code or code tools.
The only reason to use Framer is reach as fast as possible, the point where you ask somebody to use your product and observe how they feel and what they think/
For example one of my 1-1 UX coaching clients https://www.wonder-path.com/ made some early prototypes on Framer, discussed with potential customers and now they are building the MVP using https://bubble.io/
The Framer prototype helped them to get some first insights and shape their UX strategy. They go to know their users more and it allowed them to build a MVP with better UX since they already have user insights.
Hope this helps! Feel free to reply with your thoughts, this is a really interesting topic that you brought into discussion 🙌
thanks for the info @jimzarkadas. As a developer I struggle to consider this is sufficient for validation and would always look at building an MVP. I think real functionality is important to truly validate a product. And with great low-code tools these days people like me can build good MVP's with a very small budget ;-)
Yeap if you can build it fast in a no-code tool and validate it that's way better than a fake prototype, totally agree!
Also really cool and smart that you use these tools this way :) Keep it up!
Looking good.
Framer looks awesome now I just gotta find the time to learn it lel.
Usually building my stuff in Figma but the prototypes are meh 😁
I am a really noob user of Framer haha - I just use the basics of prototyping :) Since you already work with Figma it shouldn't take more than 1-2 days to get used to it!
My Status quo bias is too strong 😁
Jk I might give it a try.
hehe :)
Looks awesome! 🎉
