A side project of messenger that wouldn't stay small
Small dev team, tired of switching apps for one convo — so we built Protocall. Chats + calls in one place, no "hop on a call" elsewhere. ~20 people testing it now, want more. Still figuring out what's next 👀
"No hop on a call elsewhere" is a real annoyance, but chat+calls in one place is also exactly what Slack, Discord and Teams claim, so the hard part for Protocall is naming who is badly served by all three. With ~20 testers I'd dig into why each team left their old tool — if the answer is mostly "calls were bad quality" you're building an infra product, and if it's "threads got lost" you're building a workflow product, and those lead to very different roadmaps. What has the switching trigger looked like so far?
