A Todo App For People Working On Multiple Projects 🎯

The Motivation

Why did I build 7todos.com?
I am working on multiple projects at the same time (stupid me 🙈) and felt like none of the tools out there were supporting what I wanted from a to-do app.
So I build what I wanted to have (developer syndrome I guess — or maybe it's just me).

The Reason for the post

I also know that a lot of indie hackers are working on multiple projects to find out what is working out there and what is not. So I decided to open up 7todos for other indie hackers as well.

7Todos In A Nutshell

  • Toggle Between Kanban Board and Classic Todo List
  • Focus Mode (Ambient sounds + Pomodoro)
  • Chrome Extension
  • Shared Workspaces
  • Overview Of All Todos (and Workspaces)
  • Simple Analytics

Thoughts?

It is free to use at the moment. I am collecting feedback to find out if others find it useful enough to pay for it — poll down below 🙏

Would love to hear your thoughts 😌
Have a nice day, Gobie

What would you pay (if at all)
  1. 9,99$ per year
  2. 29,99$ lifetime

Really love the design and the app, but tbh looks like a very early version of Trello.

However, I believe it has potential.

    1. 1

I think every to-do app has something similar. The things missing for me from Trello were an overview of all my tasks across different projects, the focus mode and analytics.
However, there might be some addons enabling some of these features 🤔?

    2. 1

Also, I admire the things and projects you're doing, congrats!

I really appreciate the design experimentation but this is a todo app & I feel there is over use of neumorphism

You have given a good effort in design but as a new user for me it doesn't makes any sense, Maybe neumorphism is new or something but it sort of distract from main content

    1. 1

Neumorphism is not for everyone for sure. You love it or hate it 😂
I saw a lot of designs featuring Neumorphism but haven't seen a lot of products using it. So I just went for it. Wanted to challenge my UI skills and I am pretty happy with the outcome tbh haha.
But I agree, you can only build simple UIs with Neumorphism.

@Gobie, amazing job. I really liked the UI! Congrats!

      Thanks Llimabr 😌

I didn't like your rules of todo getting removed after 7 days. Also the limitations of having only 7 to-dos per workspace.

This is more like app dedicating my workflow.

My expectations is that the app must be flexible enough to fit into my workflow upto 90%.

O! By the way , I use an app called TickTick. It's good.

    I loved this idea!
For me it would be valuable to have some sort of "cross projects" tasks. For example, think in a task like "Stripe integration", it perfectly can be a unique service that serves all the projects but it doesn't belong to anyone in particular.

And regarding pricing, I agree with others that trying to sell it it's going to be much better than creating a poll here, but let me say that I believe most of people would pay much more than that.

PS: I'm not a big fan of neumorphism.

    1. 1

      Thanks buddy!

Hmm but how would the task behave?
Maybe I got your feedback wrong.

Let me just repeat how I understood it:
You have 2 workspaces with the same task and want the task to be synced across 2 workspaces?

  6. 1

    Hey Gobie,

Congrats on the MVP! Have you tried selling this to any users yet? You'll get much more realistic answers than simply posting a poll. Unfortunately, people often don't know if they'll really pay for something until they actually have to do it.

    1. 1

No, not yet and you are right, asking here might not be reflect the real world. I haven’t implemented the stripe integration and wanted to get some feedback first. Will do it in the next days :D

Ooo I'm in your target market for this, I'm always stupidly working on multiple projects.

My initial thought was that the animations and designs kind of get in the way of speed.

All the inbetween animations of the cards and overview make me feel like I'm not able to zip through my tasks the way trello lets me.

The full screen overlay for each card is frustrating me a bit too, having to go to the top right or top left of my browser to close a card or to go to overview.

Everything feels a little slightly low contrast to me as well.

If those types of things were changed to suit my needs I would consider paying either price structure. Very fair when compared to other to do apps.

    1. 1

Great feedback! I think for the overlays I could enable ESC as a closing option, and I could also add an option to disable animations as well as high contrast which can be stored as a user preference :D

    Great initiative!

So many times i was close to doing something like that. I settled for ClickUp. You should get some inspiration there, but overall i think you will create something better there. I would easily pay 60$ a year, if you get the features right. Clickup has many features, but none of them are really perfect
Looks cool so far, but not advanced enough for me yet. I will check it out more deeply the next days. I like the name though, just need a better logo and you could create a really cool brand with that.

    1. 1

Whoa! They got quite a lot of features. Pretty sure I can't compete with them 👨🏾‍💻
But it would be interesting to know what the key features are that you seek or even wanted to build yourself ^^

    I'll be harsh - I don't see why I would replace Trello with 7todos.

Additionally, the interface seems to be extremely resource heavy. I'm not sure what is going on behind the scenes but my laptop fans fired up only after a couple seconds staying on the landing page.

    1. 1

That's totally fine. Trello is a beast for sure! It was just not working out for me.

Maybe I overdid the gradient effect on the headlines or need to improve the implementation for it. Haven't noticed it on my laptop but exactly because of that it's good to know!

Signed up and installed the extension!

I love the simplicity of design.

The neumporhism is very fun to play with.

Though our products are similar, I'd love to give you feedback if you're up for it.

    1. 1

Thanks man, and of course I would love to hear your feedback :D

The user experience is good. I like how we can switch from todo to kanban.

I think some nice fonts can be used. Inter, Rubik, Ubuntu, Karla, etc. are my favorite ones.

The chrome extension doesn't open the signup page. Therefore I couldn't use it.

I also didn't expect the extension to show a signup screen each time I create a new tab. Some may find it annoying.

        That's it for now.

If you have time, you can review https://yudu.app

        Thanks!

        1. 1

Hey Neu, thanks for your feedback!

Hmm, the signup page should only pop up once and redirect you automatically if you are signed in 🤔 . I will have a look.

No chance I will change the font! I love the one I use haha.

Aaand I just tested Yudu out. A super clean and simple to-do app.
I think the only thing I noticed was that you can drag-and-drop sub todos. You automatically drag the whole todo.
Other than that the sub-page for your credits could use the same style as the other sites. And I would maybe open the feedback page on a new tab.

          Cheers, Gobie

Overall a nice idea, Keep working

  13. 1

Love the design & page, nicely done!
It's overwhelming and intimidating how much it can do. Think it'd be better to simplify the feature set, remove some of the buzz words and make it more approachable. I get that it's like a suite of tools that help with productivity, but I don't think others will get that far.

Also suggest adding an option to the poll to not pay. It looks nice, but I can pull off the use case well enough with my to-do app (asana), so my pain point isn't great enough for that

    1. 1

I have a feeling that the sections with the videos are a bit too much? Maybe should narrow it down to images and allow the user to play the video if they want to see it in action.

Regarding the poll, I think most people would prefer not to pay at all if the option is there. Which is fine and totally normal. But I don't think it would give me any insights. Free is always easy. But I wanted to find out if people might pay for it if that was the only option. If that makes sense 🙈

      1. 1

Looks like you've implemented a lot of those changes. It's a big improvement! Nice work.
