A Travel Guide App

Hello all. So, I have some ideas to make an app (website first, as I am more of a Web developer right now than a Mobile App developer), that will act as a roadmap for users. As the core functionality, It will ask the user for some details regarding their trip like place, dates, no. of people taking the trip etc, and the day they actually start the trip, a virtual trip on the app will also start side by side. This, based on their location information, will keep updating them on the interesting sights, places worth visiting, famous markets etc. Once this is up and running successfully, I have some future ideas to add to the app like making a community, applying Machine Learning to recommend things to do, etc. Please, help me refine my strategy as I have just started developing it and have plans to finish the first core product within next 2-3 months.

I think the decision to make a webapp first is correct.

However, you are entering a VERY crowded markert here and are competing with apps like google maps. Unless you have a very clearly defined niche then you will have a very hard time. Maybe concentrate on one travel location first? Also, be brutally honest about how will acquire users. You can do many experiments here (landing pages) without building anything.

      Okay, first thing first.
Yeah, since I have some background in website development, that I will be able to finish sooner, than having to learn mobile development and then building something.
Second, market is VERY crowded indeed. And of course, we'll be taking head-on with apps like Google Maps. Something that I found lacking in such apps is the local touch, at least in places like India (where I currently reside). So, I believe the overall traveling experience can be improved by taking input from the local people living there.
Third, yes, we'll simply start with 1 location and once have researched it inside out and put everything on the website, and have some response on that particular place, will move to next location based on previous responses.
Fourth? Well, I won't say I have very refined business model as of now. Would love some suggestions on it. If I had to give some answer to how I plan to acquire users, I'd say that something we plan to deliver is a roadmap that you can follow, based on your tailored inputs, hence, specific to only you, based on recommendations from local population, ensuring that you have your best of the time there, instead of simply feeling lost all the time.

Nice, I think there is a lot in scope here, and you might want to narrow it down for MVP. Looking forward to it.

MVP as in the basic running version of it right? Or am I missing something in it?
