A twist on uptime service. I bet it will take off.

Here's a startup idea that I wanted to work on but, ended up building Blanq.

"A simple website uptime service like Pingdom or Uptime robot."

I know - it is not new. Here's how it can differentiate itself.

Most website uptime or downtime services target developers and businesses.

Features include multi region checks, Response code verification etc.. which is too technical for a lot of people.

The idea of the new service would be that it would dumb down everything.

Make the UI dumber, make it simpler, dumb down the technical terms, have only a few basic options and remove everything else.

Integrate with SMS, email and WhatsApp. Most small business use these.

Make it super easy to get started.

Then.....target non technical audience, blog owners, no-code builders, small businesses etc.

Make a WordPress plugin as well.

Keep the pricing simple and cost effective.

One region check is enough for most folks.

Spread the word and I bet it will grow like crazy.

What do you think?

Extra idea: when it is down you can maybe suggest a course of action because they aren't technical (like show the contact info of the hosting provider automatically / show links to developers that can fix the problem with an affiliate link?)

      Yeah, great addition!

I like the concept though there is a certain level of technical understanding involved in monitoring a website. I have been playing a backend monitoring “service” myself but i have not thought about the front-end at all.

I believe the biggest differentiator would be UI. Bright colours, great UX will do the trick.
