As a social experiment, I was thinking about playing with a very simple social app (posting selfie pics or such) but every follower a real user gets, every notification and like is fake.
Literally fake generated users that kind of feel real.
It is kind of hyper-social app where you are gaining followers very fast, but in reality it is fake. For sure people might suspect that something weird is going on, but as long as they are getting likes, followers and potentially good comments, do they care? Their dopamine is boosted all the time.
Since nowadays social media is all about getting those views, hearts and followers, nothing else matters much. It's all about hyper activity and hyper popularity.

Loved the idea :) I think we'll still get that dopamine rush. You should also add some randomness to it. Let me know when you launch.
Love the idea, love open source, definitely interested to see how it pans out. If you're looking for help you can reach me here : theokirby15@gmail.com
