#freelancers how do you manage orders for your online service?
If there any saas product that you use?
I particularly want to know about how you do the following:
update
I am thinking of starting a side project around this, your inputs will help we understand how most people are doing it.
I use http://cushionapp.com/ for everything (invoices, payments, scheduling, forecasting, budget management) except for contracts (I use Bonsai for this). Cushion is amazing.
Looks good, Thanks for sharing.
Checkout UserCV.com ~ Personal CV website with store, marketplace, order management, etc., some profiles :-
and more...
Thanks for sharing, UserCV looks good. I am seeing it is more like a paas not saas.
You can use Designhill’s 1-1 projects service. Invite your clients, chat, store, receive payments, evrydthing in one place. You can find it at www.designhill.com/projects .
This service was initially built for freelance designers but all types of freelancers now use it!
I am actually doing consulting 20 hours a week. I use Payoneer's services to get paid. I haven't really focused on building a website yet, I get clients from connections, friends, and forums.
Let me know if I can help you with anything else.
Thanks for sharing this with me. Gives me good insights. :)
You should have your own website and stay away from sites like freelancer.com. Since you are from India, you may try Payoneer for payment and invoicing.
Thanks, I just updated the post with the reason I am asking.
Actually I want to know how people are doing it currently and if they need something better.
If you're a freelancer, you can use services like Upwork and freelancer.com.
They have built-in systems to charge clients, do the invoicing, pretty much they're automated. I personally use TransferWise and Revolut, and basic invoice template from Google Docs.
If you want to charge recurring you'll need to set up Stripe, Paypal, SecurionPay.
Can I plug my own app in here? Heck, why not. Workorder at https://workorder.io. Works with your own custom domain too (eg. order.mefreelancer.com).
@geetfun I have been following you since long. I have seen workorder. I was thinking of building a much larger version.
How is it going with workorder btw?
Didn't get to know much after the initial launch.
@hereisnaman Not much is going on with it. It's super basic and was really to scratch my own itch so I could send my own clients there to pay me :-)
The online paying/transaction space is super crowded, partly due to how easy it is to build an online checkout. Longer term, it's a space I'm leaving due to just seeing how the larger players are interacting with each other. I think right now, it's in the consolidation phase more than anything.
Hi @rosiesherry,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
From your reply, I am guessing that you have the technical skills to build your own website and integrate other services with it.
Rather than using these multiple services for taking orders, delivering and managing them, would you prefer to spend flat $10/month on a white-labeled saas which will help you with everything -
I am not selling anything you here. I am thinking to start a side project regarding this. Want to know if actually, people require such a service.
Not for me. I like to have individual control over all those things.
And every client wants things done in a different way. So I prefer to just adapt as needed.
