I'm about to launch the following pricing page https://deliverybot.dev/pricing/ (it's soft launched, no links to it) to about 150 beta users I've had using the product.
Looking for feedback on the following:
What is the best way to communicate with my beta users and tell them about this new pricing announcement.
How many of your users will be subjected to a paid tier?
Here's how I would do it:
Thanks for your comment :) All of the users working for a company will be subjected to the paid tier which is really my segment of users who are actually going to pay I think!
That's a great idea to target different emails based on the user count, I hadn't thought about that. I was just going to do a generic email blast. The one side effect is some users may be using the free tier just in an experimentation phase for their company but I like the targeted messaging difference.
side question - how did you get those users?
great work!
Very organically just from people finding the product on the GitHub marketplace. I've also done a few blog posts that did well Medium.
I'm not a huge fan of per user pricing. It doesn't really cost you anything more per user, right? What does?
Up to 5 users on the free plan seems really generous as well. I work at a VC-backed startup that could easily afford to pay you money, but we wouldn't need more than 5 users.
Thanks for your comment :) So the "Personal" plan is kind of a GitHub concept - if you are using a personal repository and installing this application on that you can use it for free. The assumption is that most organizations aren't running on these types of accounts. It hopefully allows for a robust free tier in that experimentation is truly free and easy to distinguish.
Ah, gotcha. In that case, I'd lock down your free plan to a single user, just as GitHub doesn't allow team features on their free plan.
Thanks! I updated that, I think it's more clear now as well.
