Accept or Decline new connection invitations?

Hey,

I get invitations from people I don't know and are not really "interesting" to me, e.g. because they are not in my customer segment or just want to sell a product I don't care about. So in the past I just accepted everyone to see my connection count grow a bit but I am not sure now if I should do it. For example I think if I had less but "better" connections more of these would see my posts in contrast having many connections don't have anything in common with a lot of them. Also when accepting these "random" connections I get even more connections invites because they are connected to the accepted "random" connection.

What do you think?

I will only accept a connection request if:

    1. I know the person
    2. In the same industry or adjacent
    3. A strong personalized invite about why we should connect
    4. They person is active on LinkedIn (in terms of post-activity)
    5. We have got a similar title

I tend to go for quality over quantity. Because I write on LinkedIn regularly, I need to make sure my connections are also active on LinkedIn, so that we get engagement altogether.

I just connect with most people, not always the best strategy to be honest as I think you end up following them in your feed. I don't really follow the feed anyways, so probably doesn't matter.

I tend to decline ones now that look spammy, or now that I'm no longer in the 'software testing' world, often I'll decline people who are coming from there. Also, if people send me a sales pitch I just disconnect from them.

Thanks for you answer. Sounds good, I probably should also decline the ones that look spammy.
