Add AI or be killed by AI

If you can't beat 'em...

A few days ago I came upon this article describing how Grammarly consistently declined after the release of ChatGPT:

Notice the 2023 graph. Grammarly's mobile revenue reacted and started dropping roughly 10% every month. By July, revenue dropped to where it was a year prior. All of Grammarly's growth disappeared.

In August Grammarly started making a push to highlight its AI and improved its offering which helped push revenue up to May's level. Still not great, but better than dropping.

Lesson: If can't beat 'em, add 'em to your feature set.

The irony is that Grammarly is AI to the bone, arguably of the same level of sophistication as ChatGPT.

Their software is literally machine learning algorithms for text improvement. So it's not the "Add AI or be killed by AI", but "market your AI or be killed by those who do"

Not sure I buy it in this case. Can you first explain why it jumped up in Winter '23? otherwise it's just normal steady progress upwards. A big drop after artificially-acquired users churn out (discounts/promotions) is also normal

But the thing is that ChatGPT does not have good grammar. There are many grammatical errors in the results
