I'm considering adding a free plan to Noora so that I can get more feedback from users, and also offer a better path for people to be able to comfortably test and trial the product before upgrading.
How many of you have added a free plan to your products? Did you find the upsell/conversion to paid was a challenge? In the past I've always been reluctant to offer a freemium tier because often you get a user base that isn't necessarily overlapping with the one who will pay for your service.
Would any of you be interested in trying Noora (www.noorahq.com) if it was free? Or are trial periods enough for you?
Soon we will officially launch the new http://seodity.com.
It's all finished. We're just preparing marketing.
In the new version, we have launched a free plan, and we already have over 700 registered users. Thanks to this, we have received a lot of feedback, which will allow us to make Seodity even better.
In our marketing strategy, we focus on getting as many users as possible. After we add new features, we will try to monetize active users.
I think each of these strategies makes sense, a trial plan, free or freemium. You must listen to your users. Without them, it won't matter.
From my perspective, I would certainly consider using Noora if it was free. I recently looked for a similar application and chose Upvoty. Maybe it would be worthwhile for you to highlight the information about the free/trial plan more on Landing Page?
Thanks for the reply.
I absolutely agree that without listening to your users, nothing matters. It is one of the main things that motivates me with building Noora.
I'll consider the free plan some more but I see no major drawbacks, provided I can build enough value to convert users to paid plans. The nice thing with this kind of app is that each user will invite a lot of other users due to the nature of it, so probably a free plan will help here too.
Site and functionality looks really cool but I don't understand the pricing. It's seems for any decent size app with over 5000 users you'll pay over $600 a month but the users could possibly not even use it once. I'm on my mobile so I could also have completely missed the point.
Trial periods are sufficient in my view. Free users give very different feedback from paid and also want very different features. Focus on what's stopping people from converting after the trial period.
I was listening to an interview where the owner of Convert kit recently launched a free plan. But it was only after scaling up the paid services & hitting a revenue ceiling.
The free plan is their plan to start long-term relationships with people who need email marketing so that "over time" they can roll into paid plans. Nice tool by the way!

Your feedback is certainly valid - a previous product I worked on followed the feedback of your "group 3" users for too long. It didn't end well and took a long time to course correct.
