Compare that to WooCommerce selling to Automattic a few years ago for $30M !
Seems inflated considering its market share:

Also from past experience I found Magento to truly "suck". Don't know what it's like now.
God, I hated Magento so much. That incredible flexibility comes at the cost of performance, so standard practice for the few stores I worked on was to find ever more layers of the application to set up caching. It works, but man is it a frankenstein-style horror under the hood.
I remember it taking like a day to FTP up to a server. (FTP lol)
Magento was never something I liked to work with.
But it has 2 sides, one is for maintenance and the person in charge of the technical part and the other is the owner of the shop.
Usually the technical person would hate it and the owner who just works via the admin panel likes it.
Magento has grown and it is famous for it big ecosystem, community and addons.
Well, you've described it in a way like the owner gets only a fancy UI, but dev team burns in hell for that :) That's not true. Some technical persons may hate it for the complexity of the core which they don't understand. And all that complexity is required to give all the flexibility this platform provides (which is not only nice admin panel).
That said.. It's becoming better and better each day. There is almost 30% community-written code in the core of the platform and it's the most contributed PHP project currently.
I wouldn't recommend Magento for a small business. But for medium and big businesses there aren't many other solid options.
Yea, I’ve never used Magneto but have a lot of friends who have used it and hate it.
Amazing , i think it the second time it had been bought ..
it downloadable product right ? or there are Saas elements into it ?
You have three options here:
1 and 2 you can host yourself.
3 runs on AWS and is fully managed by Magento.
Just checked them out again. Seems to be all SaaS now.
Magento was never a saas. Its still not. They have a managed offering.
Fair enough. Last time I used them Maybe 2012 or so it was a million files and a million headaches.
shopify style ?
