Ads for my personal training service (Fitropolis) are generating leads from Google and social media but no one is signing up for the free trial. Users get directed to the landing page after clicking the ads. Any thoughts?
I've been working on Fitropolis, a two sided platform for fitness trainers and clients. I haven't been as successful so far. I decided to go back to basics and start with the simplest possible thing - offer personal online training services myself (I'm a certified fitness trainer). My hope is that I'll be able to understand the problem better in the process. My initial strategy for getting clients has been Google and social media ads. This however hasn't been as successful as I would have hoped. Any help/feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Elijah! Are you still working on Fitropolis? I hope you are because I like the idea a lot! Hereās a little feedback.
I think this is one if those niches that is:
When I see āDo you want to get fitā copy, I think of course, everyone does. But that does not mean itās for me. The language of ādiscover a new ___ youā doesnāt necessarily appeal to me (and Iām sure many other people). I think to stand out you should be getting really specific.
Talk to your training clients: what are their goals? What are they struggling with? and use that language verbatim. That way your offer becomes much harder to resist because itās speaking to me! (E.g: workout schedule for the digital nomad that struggles to have a consistent routine, or at home 1:1 coaching so you donāt have to leave your kids, etc.)
I think the very first image on the website was a stock photo. For customers to trust that your offer works, they want to know that there are real people behind it. Unless Iām paying for a purely SAAS commodity, I need to see a video of what the classes look like, actual customers using it. Etc. What is the process? Is it on your own website? Do they log into zoom?
And also social proof! Testimonials, before and afters. Take a look at personal trainings on IG and how they market for inspiration.
I think itās a good idea that you will be starting by offering the training yourself. This is a great opportunity to win over trust with your face as the brand. Now I know itās not a scam, itās this guy Elijah and he seems to know what heās talking about! Why not?
You can appear relatable to your customers, use video to show your voice, show aspirational lifestyle content: if I join Fitropolis and become as fit as you, how will that improve my life (and honestly, social standing)? Will I feel confident taking up new outdoors hobbies? Will I have an easier time dating? Etc.
If you later want to go the marketplace route, you can still find ways to continue to be the face of Fitropolis. Except you know have a āglobal team of coachesā.
There are many types of people that are in need of fitness coaching. And I think once you narrow down on who YOUR customer is, and put yourself in their shoes, you will know exactly how to sell to them.
Good luck!!
Hi @heilly. Thanks so much for the elaborate feedback.
I've paused work on Fitropolis for quite a while now and currently pursuing other things. This feedback is however still quite valuable as I can apply a lot of it to some of the things I'm currently working on. I really appreciate it!!
I glanced over at your IH profile to see if you were working on anything that I could take a look at and potentially reciprocate the kind gesture. I couldn't seem to find anything. Are working on anything at the moment? I'd love to check it out. Let me know. Thanks!!
Good :) I hope it helps! I actually found your post while looking for advice with GoogleAds.
Iām currently working on a membership site with coding courses in Spanish (analistavisual.com). As Iām offering the first course for free, I think the learning curve for me will be in converting free users to paid.
Let me know if you have any wisdom on that front!
I checked it out. I really love the mission! There's perhaps little I can offer in terms of wisdom but I did have a few questions. Is there a reason why Analista Visual currently caters to women alone. I'm guessing this is a strategy for niching down..? I'm also curious as to what you're currently doing for to fuel growth on the platform.
Yes, very niche. Itās specifically hispanic women that do not speak English. Iāve been teaching 1:1 and learning thatās a very underserved segment.
I guess I will be learning what works in terms of growth as I go :) For now Iāll be trying a combination of paid search, social media and SEO.
Awesome!!
