Advertising in 3rd party newsletters?
We're pretty big fans of email and we're currently getting a lot of our new subscribers from our weekly newsletter. We have about 20K subscribers.
We're thinking of reaching out to some carefully selected companies in the travel sector (our sector) and asking them can we advertise in their newsletter - newsletters with about 5K subscribers. We'd only need a few lines of promo text about our offering and a link to our platform.
Any thoughts on how much we should propose to offer for the promo per a mailshot? We'd probably need to run it for 10 issues to see any traction.
Why not just trade shoutouts?

What is your campaign objective? Email addresses? Website sign ups? How much would you be willing to pay for each? How much would they cost to acquire through other sources such as paid or content marketing?
Forget the number of subs, open rate, impressions, CTR etc. You want to be looking at your objective and optimising for that.

Yeah, can be scary asking, but also you might be pleasantly surprised.
Or like the suggestion above, ask them, but also ask if they are open to a swap.
