Advice from a founder led to pivoting a small project

I have been writing a design blog for the past few months building up to create a DIY logo ebook or online course. I run into many small business owners, entrepreneurs or side hustlers that put way too much emphasis on their logos and brand design. Whenever the topic comes up, I explain a new way to think about their logo and some resources they can use to get a good, fast, and cheap logo.

Well....@tommygriffith from clickminded.com recently sent out a series of emails about how to start an online business. We had a brief email exchange and I got some solid advice - "I personally don't like this space because I view logo designs as one of the least important / last things people should focus on. In fact I have sections of my course where I talk about how caring about your logo is one of the bullshit busywork things that fake entrepreneurs do to avoid doing real work."

This was sobering - not because I disagree and he helped me see the light. I whole heartedly agree. It was sobering because this is exactly what I've been writing about. It was a face palm realization. If I'm telling people that they don't need to spend time or money on their logo, why would they spend their time or money on my ebook or logo course?

I'm grateful I realized this sooner than later. I've wrapped up everything from my design blog into a simple microsite at howtogetalogo.com

I hope it's useful for anyone starting out or struggling with their logo and brand design.
