Advice on placing your apps on a subdomain of your personal site instead of buying a new domain for each project? Is this dumb?

Anyone else feeling guilty about buying too many domains during the prototyping stage?

I'm wondering if it would be a good/bad idea to start putting my projects on subdomains of my personal website instead of buying a new domain each time.

Are there any examples of successful indie hackers doing this with multiple projects?

Eg:
app#1 . mysite . com
app#2 . mysite . com
etc

If it's supposed to be paid, you probably need a domain.

If it's supposed to be free, you can probably get away with a sub.

I realize there will be exceptions.

For prototyping and smaller free side-projects, definitely yes, but for a real product, you intend to charge money for I think it looks way more professional to have a dedicated domain.

Focus on product, it does not matter much. Unless optics matter for you.

I use subdomains. I don't think it really matters.

I have like 2 domains, and I use subdomains! So yeah :)
