Feedback is needed - is it worth to build SaaS that create various maps and analyzes them from photos taken by UAV in Agriculture field ? and how to validate this idea? Thank you
Hei Omer, any updates for this idea?
Hi, Actually we have started to work on this idea and became 4 people team. But things didnt go well in terms of various aspect of idea. Therefore, we stopped to work on it. I think, problem was motivation and knowledge. We considered to start this idea in Turkey which has sort of potential for new agricultural techs. Thank you for asking.
That sounds interesting. I would be happy to hear more if you’re available.
Sure. Here is my email mraltuntas@outlook.com we can discuss further.
Remote sensing data can be helpful to farmers / ag companies. There are already firms that sell drones, operate drones, operate airplanes, or interpret satellite imagery.
So the question "is it worth it" has a couple meanings -- for some farmers, it is a worthwhile product.
But is it worth it for you to develop the product? The question is, how much work it would take, what you would spend to create it, and what you can charge.
I'd recommend going to some farmers in your target region or country and asking what they would pay for maps and imagery analysis -- and if they know of anyone who provides it already.
Then work backwords -- at that price, are you willing to put in the work to make something for that return?
One note on the demand side, because I worked for a remote imaging startup for ag companies: The type of crop matters a lot to how much farmers are willing to pay -- commodity crops, they will not be willing to spend much. And the type of image -- the quality -- and what they can use that image for (preventing pests from spreading ... fixing irrigation problems) dictates what they will pay. Basically, can they prevent enough damage to make it worth spending money on images.
It's complicated and depends on your area and the crops being grown.
Thank you for your reply and recommendations. It seems that having conversation with the target farmers will make this process more clear and i can decide whether it is worth to chase it or not.
