Affiliate programs

Currently I am thinking about adding affiliate program for my WordPress plugins and I'm interested in other people's experiences in such.
So here is some of my questions:

What are your results with it? Is it worth it?

Is that a one-time fee or includes all renewals too?

In short, it's a lot of work to keep your affiliates engaged so they keep promoting your plugin more than once.

I decided to add an affiliate program to T.LY URL Shortener a couple of months ago. I went with an easy setup using Rewardful. Implementing it only took a few minutes with my setup. I've had 76 users sign up to be affiliates, but very few conversions. It's like most things it depends on the time and effort you put into it. A side benefit is that even without conversions, users adding your site to theirs will add additional backlinks that could help your SEO.
If someone knows a place that will help promote your affiliate program, let me know. Or someone should build this :).
It seems that the main problem here is to find quality partners.
You're right about having to invest a lot of effort and trying to advertise your affiliate program. I think when I finally decide to start my own, the next step will be to find the right partners. Ideally those who has its own site/blog.
