Affordable referral marketing software for indie hackers

Hey everyone! For the past few months I've been building an open-source, affordable and privacy-friendly affiliate and referral program creator for SaaS called Reflio.

I built Reflio because as an indie hacker I couldn't find an affiliate marketing tool for my multiple SaaS products that wouldn't cost me over $100+/month. Since I didn't know if affiliate marketing would work for me as a sales channel, I really wanted to find a tool where, instead of a fixed monthly fee, I could instead pay a % per successful referral to test the waters.

Referral marketing is such a powerful marketing channel for SaaS companies. For example, referral leads for B2B have a 70% higher conversion rate than leads from any other sales channel, and when referred by other customers, that customer typically has a 37% higher retention rate.

The setup process for Reflio is nice and easy. You simply signup, connect your Stripe account, create your first campaign, add the tracking script to your website and then fire the Reflio.convert('[email protected]') function from your thank you page. Once you've done those steps, you can either invite affiliates manually, or send them your unique Reflio invite signup page URL.

It's quite hard for me to list in sentences some of the cool features that make up Reflio, so here's a list:

  • Pricing from $0/month
  • Automatic Stripe sync
  • Works for both subscriptions and one-time charges
  • Embed script is lightweight and only ~13kb
  • Privacy-friendly, automated GDPR compliance built in
  • Manage multiple affiliate programs for different SaaS products from one dashboard
  • Open-source software

Since we're in public beta, getting feedback right now is my top priority. I'd appreciate it so much if you sign up via Reflio.com and let me know how you get on / your initial thoughts 😄

    Hi Richie.

Saw this post on IndieHacker regarding the referral/ID software. Tried to hit the website Reflio.com.. site doesn't appear to work.... Your IH post said the code/logic was/is open source. Is the code somewhere on github?

Hit me up if you're still working with this!!

dude! this! i wanted to add affiliates to Ricordi. but each and every one of the programs was just too expensive to justify in the beginning. i was wondering why nobody built an affordable program and started thinking i should do it, even though i had no idea where to even start. glad you did it! will give it a try!

    Hi Richie-

Very cool, I'll be adding affiliate capabilities for GapScout. How are payouts handled? Most use PayPal mass payment which is a bit of a manual process. I assume the same for Reflio?

Thank you very much! Yes right now it's a PayPal Mass Payment export, however, I plan on adding automation for this in the future, since PayPal Mass Payment has an API to utilise :)

Hey there, please don´t rely solely on PayPal Mass Payouts to save the day as it only works in the US! It does not work in Europe at all for example! PayPal has not opened up that functionality in many countries!

As affiliate marketing tends to attract people from all over the world you will get a big problem with payouts really fast!

You might take a look at Stripe Connect too. Or just a Reflio app in the Stripe App marketplace

Any chance this would work with Paddle.com?
