I have a small indie studio along my brother, and we build mobile games. But not regular games; we like making sort of artsy ones, focusing on aesthetics.
We actually released one that got really good traction back in the day, and allowed us to make a living of it since then. Then came two more, but less of a hit compared to the first one.
The thing is I also like exploring side-projects in my free time, and I've spent the last months trying to build a tool around chatGPT (as many others). I can't say I've failed completely, because It has a couple of recurrent paying users, but I have not reached even ramen profitability at all... It's time to move on.
I feel like being always trying to catch the latest trend is exhausting, and generates (at least to me) lots of stress and anxiety. I needed time to relax, recharge, and feel calmer. And that gave me an idea...
Why not trying to build something with my brother, pairing the beautiful aesthetics we like for games with some sort of mental health app, to help us stay calm, get focus if needed, or even get better sleep? Well, that's Nuits, an app that pairs animated landscapes with different sound mixes, with the idea of helping you get the mood you want. You just open the right scene, relax, admire it, and listen to it. You can even keep it playing in the background while you meditate, play, or work.
It's a work in progress, and hopefully will be ready in a few months. We are recording and gathering white noise effects, rain recordings, ocean waves, animal sounds... quite a task!
It's the first time we focus on this kind of project, but I feel it's something we could use ourselves... which is always nice.
I'll be sharing our progress around here and twitter!
