After two years of building, I am finally launching my logo design tool: seeking your valuable feedback and suggestions!

Hey Everyone!

After two years of working and chipping away at my logo design tool, Typogram, I am launching it publicly. My primary goal is to build a beginner-friendly logo design tool for founders launching their businesses or projects. It's a design tool rather than a logo generator. It's for the tinkers, hackers, and DIYers who love being creative and want to design/build something themselves. I would appreciate any thoughts, feedback, or features you think might be helpful.

  • You can learn the basics of branding design through in-app learning materials
You can use our curated logo design method feature to help you design a logo easily

  • You can use our custom editable icons, allowing you to change the visual style easily without manipulating brazier curves

  • You can get a typography system for your brand, which you can use for your website, blogs, and marketing graphics

  • You can create a brand kit including color and black and white versions of your logo, in SVG and PNG formats

  • The service also allows you to publish a brand guideline with your designed logo and typography system you can come back to, print as a pdf, or share. We offer a one-brand lifetime license, so you can keep designing and editing the logo.

Thank you for taking the time to check it out. I look forward to hearing your feedback. You can access the service by visiting this link ๐Ÿ‘‰: https://typogram.co/

The first 5 seconds on your website should give a general idea of what it is about. I feel some disconnect between your description here and what I understand from the website in first 5 sec. Here it feels it's a tool for logo design, but on website the things like "Launch your business faster" doesn't seem directly related to logo design IMO.

    1. 1

it's helpful to know how you felt about that copy. Thank you!

  2. 6

I agree with all of the other comments here in regard to the website. I would look to review your color and font choices to make it easier for the user to navigate.

Less is also sometimes more - make the layout simple and add more padding between elements - at the moment it is all a bit compressed and I had a hard time actually trying to read the content.

    1. 1

Thanks so much Graham for your detailed comments!

Is there a section you struggled more with and feel more padding is needed?

  3. 2

First glance, there are too many font types on the first page. I feel a little bit lost on it.

    1. 1

      thanks for your input!

  4. 2

Hey Thanks for it. I really need it for my site.

    1. 1

      thanks for checking it out!

  5. 2

I know this is subjective but I feel like the first hero section, the font just feels outdated for a design tool. Below that the rest of the landing page looks fantastic

    1. 1

      thanks for your feedback!

  6. 2

Your product looks fantastic, I'm just not 100% sure the website is doing a good job of selling it.

    1. 1

thanks so much for your input! what part of the website made you feel that way?

  7. 2

Perhaps give some examples or show the workflow? Iโ€™m unlikely to try the free trial without more idea of what I get?

    1. 1

      Thanks for your feedback!

yes, I think short gifs of work flow would be a great section to include. Right now, we have some โ€“ย if you scroll 4 sections down, there is a section covering features showing gifs - how do you feel about hat section?

    2. 1

      true.
maybe use gifs to explain them instead of long videos

      1. 1

I agree! what do you think about the section with all the gifs? scroll about 4 sections down

        1. 1

the gif's look good, but you would wanna capture your visitor's attention in the first 3 to 5 seconds, so try and explain your product in brief initially itself

          1. 1

ah, so it sounds like you would still prefer some kind of explainer video on the landing page, but much much shorter?

  8. 1

    who's the ideal customer profile?

  9. 1

Interesting idea. May I ask how do you generate the illustrations for your landing page? I keep seeing these characters you use more and more often across the web.

    1. 2

sure! I checked out some of https://blush.design/ free components, and then design my own :D

      1. 1

        Thanks for sharing the link.

  10. 1

How were these two years of building?

Did you get the time to talk to customers, and understand their needs? I am genuinely interested in the whole process you followed, from idea to the product.

    1. 1

I'm working on a post explaining our process, but a good chuck was spent doing user testing, talking to customers, and creating smaller releases of features using no code tools, and validate them.

  11. 1

My feedback is that the site should be clearer in the value proposition. Designing a brand and launching a business are 2 things.
I have created logos and made overall brand visual assets without wanting to launch any business idea or anything.

2nd. I believe you can hold off from the account creation at the start. As a new user I want to see what the tool can do for me. If it's one of those average brand design creations then I have wasted my time creating the account.

If you have a free option, that should be the first thing to show and then also say how or what extra features or upgrades I get if I go for a paid plan.
In terms of pricing, I feel is quite high in terms of the relative value I'm getting from the brand design.
I have used other logo desgin tools that have better user flow and have a more affordable price.

    Hope any of these helps.

    1. 1

      Thanks for your feedback juan!

Can you share some examples of logo design tools with userflow / price you like?

Also, you mentioned you have created logos and made brand visual assets without launching business - may I ask what your background is, and for what purpose you were making those?

  12. 1

Hi friend. Congrats on the launch. I like the idea and the product. As for the website, I was a little confused about the demo video. I turned it on and then I pressed Close (I don't immediately understand that this is CLOSE) but video was continued. As for me, intuitively it is not clear how to turn it off

    1. 1

Thanks so much for your feedback!
Do you mind sharing a screenshot of where you press to close? and can you also share the browser and the version you are on?

  13. 1

I bought a logo before from one of your competitors and I have to say this looks awesome. I think it could be a bit cheaper but looking good. Good luck Hua!

    1. 1

      thanks so much!
may I ask - where did you buy before? and what would be a price point you feel comfortable with?

      1. 1

I wanted to shoot a Twitter DM but it's not possible without verification. I think $50 is fair (I look at it as getting a logo for random new service that I might shutdown in two months like a true indie hacker :D).

        1. 1

got it, thanks for your feedback, and wow I didn't know that about Twitter - good to know!

  14. 1

    That's awesome dude.

  15. 1

Great product and amazing video demonstration! As someone who would likely try Photoshop to make a logo, this seems so much more intuitive as it teaches me to become a logo designer! I would love to see some branding along the lines of "helping to make your brand distinctive" with the word "distinctive" as an animated GIF transitioning through the different styles at 1:00 of the video ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    1. 1

thanks so much for your detailed feedback!

  16. 1

    Good keep it up

  17. 1

That is a really smart business model! Congratulations!

    1. 1

      thank you!

  18. 1

I love this! I really like the design of the site, I do wonder what level of skill is required though. It doesnโ€™t come across as a non designer tool - you still need to have some design sensibility. I like others suggestions about showing more examples.
I donโ€™t think saving time should be your main message - I think itโ€™s more about founders being able to get creative and create brands that are authentic to them.
Thatโ€™s what sets this apart from templates and AI generated logos. Itโ€™s about allowing brands to communicate who they are without investing thousands on designers who will take the time to understand them.

    1. 1

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback, Dan!

      • quick question: what do you think about the section with gif feature on site? (it's about 4 sections down)

thanks so much for giving me insight on the message!

I think that's a great idea, I definitely want to experiment with the message - "founders being able to get creative and create brands that are authentic to them" - maybe the time to fire up an A/B test : )

      1. 1

Glad it was helpful! Yes I think the gifs are an excellent way of showing ease of use. :)

  19. 1

Overall, the site has a clean, minimal aesthetic which can be appealing. Consider incorporating more photos, illustrations or subtle background textures to add warmth while retaining simplicity.

The centered text alignment and lack of columns creates lengthy line lengths that may make reading difficult. Using a left-aligned layout with columns could enhance readability. Additionally, more strategic use of headings, lists and whitespace between paragraphs would help break up dense blocks of text.

For primary action buttons like "Order Now", bolder colors and treatments would help them stand out better against the muted palette. Stronger visual hierarchy guides users more intuitively.

The logo and brand imagery, while professional, feels generic. Developing a more unique, memorable visual identity could better capture the brand's spirit and differentiate it from competitors.

While minimalism has merits, strategic use of visuals, typographic contrasts and purposeful white space would likely enhance engagement on the site. However, the clean foundation allows room to inject more personality through design choices.

Overall, the site has potential with some refinements. Let me know if you would like specific suggestions on how to improve the branding, layout, typography or other elements! I'm happy to collaborate.

    1. 1

Thanks so much for your input!

  20. 1

Looks great, the appeal to try the product is good! The close button is not working on my browser (brave) for the video. I did not get a whole idea of the product until i viewed the page completely. I believe a short description might work in place of these letters: "Design
    YOUR BRAND
    Yourself"

Else looks super cool, the general theme of the website feels natural.

    1. 2

Thanks so much for your feedback and reporting! I'll try to write some short descriptions, and see what I can come up with : )

can you share the Brave browser version you are using?

      1. 1

        Version 1.56.20 Chromium: 115.0.5790.171 (Official Build) (64-bit)

  21. 1

    Congratulations Hua! Goodluck

    1. 1

      Thank so much!

  22. 1

Congrats! I like the product idea, I just wish the page was a bit cleaner. Less information in a way as it is distracting.

$99 or ยฃ99 would look more appealing to me too.

    1. 1

Thanks so much for your feedback : ) Can I know which part you wish was cleaner?
Do you mean design, content, or is there a specific section?

      1. 1

I think just generally, too much text. For example the first part has text on the left and right... distracting from a single key message.

        1. 1

Thank you! any thoughts on the pricing section?

  23. 1

2 years, great journey. Congratulations on your launch! I'd love to see a workflow or walkthrough here

    1. 1

Thanks so much for your kind words and suggestion! I agree, and I think a workflow section with gifs from the product is definitely something I want to add. What would you like for me to include in that section ?

On the home page, If you scroll 4 sections down, there is a section covering features showing gifs - how do you feel about that section?

  24. 1

Hey, congrats on the awesome product! Gotta say, it looks really cool and you can tell there's a ton of attention to detail. Even though it's small, that re-centering artboard feature totally caught my eye.

Although I understood quickly what your product generally does, it took a while to understand how it worked, and what output I could expect. It's worth noting I spent 2 mins on your site before watching the video, which explained a lot.

I think it would be good to outline your benefits over other other similar tools. Is it 5x faster or maybe just better output, or both. I also felt the first showcase of Dreamkit wasn't as good as the rest.

    1. 1

Thanks so much for your super detailed feedback Tetley!

I just have a few questions, if you don't mind:

You mentioned it took a while to understand how the product worked and the output it produces โ€“

      1. did you feel this way before you made an account?

      and...

      1. did making an account and starting the first step help you understand?

Thanks again for checking out the tool, and I really appreciate your input!

  25. 1

Your tool is an exciting addition to the digital landscape! The introduction video is wonderfully informative, and I think a touch of background music could add an engaging vibe to it. While the product's complexity is clear, the introductory page might benefit from a more concise approach this link explains. The practicality of your project shines through, and I'm inclined to agree โ€“ it almost sells itself. A few concise lines highlighting its unique advantages compared to alternatives could work wonders. It caught my attention especially as I've used similar robotic logo tools before visit Best IPTV UK. The fact that your product emphasizes proper design is a standout feature that drew me in. Keep up the great work! ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŽจ

    1. 1

Thanks so much for your feedback Ritta! I think including a section about competitor goes a long way too, and being concise. also, great point about the background music for the video : )

  26. 1

    Congratulations!!

    this looks really interesting

    1. 2

      thank you!

  27. 1

    Hey!

Just by looking at it quickly, the landing page looks super messy, way too much contrasts and info packed too close from each other. The font is super hard to read.

Now, what's the difference between this and using Canva or something like MakeLogo.ai or Logology.co? It takes me 5 minutes to make a logo using one of those tree, and it's free, cheap or not very expensive at worst. What would justify the price?

Also, why wait 2 years to release it?!

    1. 1

Quick precision, not looking to demoralize you, just giving honest feedback, telling you "Wow it's amazing" would do no good if you want honest feedback.

      1. 1

Hey there - no worries! I appreciate your thoughts and we'll try to make the video more obv on the site, and I think it wouldn't hurt having a section explaining the competitors.

We actually get a lot of nice complements on the landing page! so I appreciate your other take : )

As for product development, in the 2 years, we actually spent a good chuck of it talking to users, and validating features. We had a lot of mini product releases before this grand launch โ€“ย This is our first public launch with the tool fully coded.

        1. 1

"Typical logo editor VS ours" would work well imo, logo editors is already a known product, so your job is to show how yours is better

And good then, I thought you spent 2 years just coding without talking to users haha

Hope the feedback will help! Feel free to DM me if you want feedback on your page after tweaking it :)
I don't check IH everyday but you can ping me here twitter.com/nico_jeannen

          1. 2

I like the sound of "Typical logo editor VS ours." definitely sounds like a section I want to include. I just followed on Twitter (X)! I will definitely dm you there once we update our landing page . Thanks again : )

      2. 1

I assume you didn't watch the video as it clearly explains the benefits over these products. I would agree with you about the website though. It's quite messy and perhaps it might be worth paying a designer to rework it, or just spend more time on it. Perhaps it could include some snappy copy that gets the points across fast that are outlined in the video.

Your language kind of is demorilising to be fair.

'Why wait 2 years to release it?'

Maybe because they have a full time job and it took 2 years to build? It's pretty impressive imo to get this far along in a couple of years.

Or did you mean, why did you not release an earlier version to see if there was a market or get earlier feedback? If you meant that then maybe you should say that - as the way you have worded it doesn't come off as very helpful.

        1. 1

No, I didn't watch the video, and most people won't!

People's attention span is super short now, so you have 2-3 seconds max to catch their attention

For the landing page, no need to pay a designer, this should be enough: https://www.refactoringui.com & https://jeannen.com/landing-page-guide-for-indies/

Also checking other landing pages for inspirations: https://www.landingfolio.com, https://landings.dev, etc

And yes, I meant the 2nd option of course! My bad for the confusing wording

Edit: Tried to find the video on the website but it's not obvious at all. Too bad because it explains things pretty well (even if a bit too slow imo)

          1. 2

aah okay. Sorry, I assumed the worst.

Glad you preferred the video though and you're probably right about many not bothering.

Links look interesting. Although I wouldn't say reading a 220 page book and hours of videos on UI design is necessarily a great use of one's time unless they really want to be a UI designer.

Going to have a read of your article though.

            1. 2

I took the design book/course and it's worth every single penny & minute invested!

It's not about UI, it's about making beautiful & modern UI fast, only practical advice, no theoretical stuff

              1. 1

I mean it does look good. I'll definitely check it out when I get the chance

  28. 1

    Wow. This is super cool.

I'll likely use it myself at some point. The video was clear and concise. I always love tools that encourage you to think and learn, rather than just using some psuedo-ai

    1. 2

Thanks so much! Me too, I like tools that motivates me to unlock new knowlege and makes me feel smarter : )

  29. 1

Woah, Typogram looks epic! ๐Ÿคฉ As a total design newbie, I love how beginner-friendly this is. Custom icons and editable logo styles? My inner tinkerer is squealing. ๐ŸŽจ

Being able to actually design my own logo from scratch seems so much more meaningful than using some AI logo bot. And I can learn real branding skills? Sign me up for Logo Design 101! ๐ŸŽ“

It's genius that I get a full brand kit and guide to reference later. No more googling "what's my logo again?" at 3am! ๐Ÿ˜…

Kudos @Hua for an incredibly thoughtful tool. I can already envision all the founders who will make Typogram their design BFF! ๐Ÿค

Who else is ready to unleash their inner DIY logo guru? Share one design/branding skill you want to learn below! I can't wait to see what beautiful logos we all create. Let's support @Hua and the hard work behind this project! ๐Ÿ‘

    1. 1

Thanks so much for the cheer and kind words : )

  30. 1

Love the idea and business.!The introductory video is great too. I believe adding a bit of background music to the video would be a nice touch! Also while the product is complex, the introductory page feels a bit wordy. The utility of your project is apparent and personally I believe it sells itself. Just a few lines of text to describe why it is better than alternatives would go a long way. I mention this because having just used some of the tools mentioned that create robotic logos using templates, I am immediately drawn to the service by just the differentiator that you built the product with proper design in mind.

    1. 1

      Thanks so much Matt!

I think having a few line of text explaining why it is better than alternative is a great suggestion. maybe it is something I can put before the pricing section. I tend to be wordy and I will take another look at the home page copy : )

      1. 1

No problem!! Feel free to keep me updated on any updates! I love your product and would be willing to provide additional feedback.

        1. 1

Thanks so much! I appreciate your support!

  31. 1

    Ciao! Nice project!
I just found the UI slightly confusing, too much information and too much to read in the same viewport (especially on the homepage , but that's just my opinion, take it as it is :)
Anyway, I was impressed with how quickly you got (after just a few steps and settings) to the brand guidelines, nice!!
Thumbs up for the app name: typogram :)

    1. 1

Thanks so much Ottavio, I wrote down your feedback!
is there a specific section on the homepage that confused you?

      1. 1

        You are welcome! :)
I would say the "pricing details" part. I expect to read immediately the price but the focus of my reading is going elsewhere, maybe too much text. IMHO I prefer just two pieces of info here: (1) try it for free, and (2) lifetime offer and I would move to another section the "Design Your Brand Today" info.

        1. 1

that makes sense, thanks so much for your feedback Ottavio!

  32. 1

This looks incredible. The website is visually very unique and the introductory video catches me within the first 10 seconds. All the best!

    1. 1

      Thanks so much Josh!
