Ahrefs is too costly!

Hi guys,

I feel Ahrefs is too costly and too feature packed. I saw some other tools which costs just $15/month for something related to SEO I forgot to note it down and now it's missing. Can you suggest me some alternatives. Even better if it's a tool by an indie hacker.

My main purpose is Keyword research, rest all is a bonus.

Thanks

I haven't used it, but there's a new keyword research tool by fellow indie hacker Yossie Segev called SEO Stuff. It's pay-as-you-go.

      Hey, I'm Yossi 👋
I built SEO Stuff to solve exactly that - the over-pricing of SEO tools.
      I'm a bit biased but I think it's pretty great :D

Thanks Andy. You won this comments section. Great job @HeyImYossi

Ooo my friend, I feel you.

They charge so much and even have a limit on the # of requests.

This is the only free tool I found: https://www.wordstream.com/keywords

It's not as smooth as Ahrefs, but free.

      Awesome! Thanks for sharing

    It's costly, same with SEMRUSH
but couldn't find something better tbh.
So currently I'm jumping between trials.

Hi @owlmaniac 👋, it could be worth checking out Centori, created by @tscionti.

I use it for a few of my projects. It's got a keyword research tool and doesn't cost as much as Ahrefs!

There are many tools out there. It all depends on what exactly you are looking for.

I created a tool that helps with Keyword Research: lowfruits.io

The strength of this tool lies in its ability to scrape Google's autocomplete suggestions more effectively than alternatives like Answer The Public. Also, many tools are just getting the data from the same provider : Google Ads API.

Additionally, it captures the latest data directly from search engine results pages (SERPs), ensuring up-to-date information and analysis.

We have pay-as-you-go credits so you pay for what you need.

We wrote an article on the different ways tools assess keyword difficulty and how we do it : https://blog.lowfruits.io/how-to-measure-the-difficulty-easiness-of-a-keyword-in-seo-3-main-ways

Note that I recommend the tool to people who understand the basics of SEO and SERP analysis.

Thanks for all the replies. although there were a lot of suggestions, I'm leaning towards seo-stuff.com never seen something soo affordable . Will soon join as a paid user as I'm getting closer to launch my product :)

      thanks for sharing mate!

Thanks for the post. You are fully right.
There must be alternatives. You can probably also choose smaller alternative for each feature that Ahrefs offers.

I e.g. use a tool for Keyword Research called Keywords Everywhere which is a chrome extension. You buy credis and pay as you go.

There are probably other tools like this.

Maybe someone can compile a list of alternatives here in the forum?

it's really pricey, and you really don't need it's just a wrapper around google search APIs in my opinion.

  9. 2

    Keywords everywhere. I believe it's 100,000 credits for $15 a year.

  10. 2

Sure! If you find Ahrefs pricey, consider alternatives like Ubersuggest, Moz, or Mangools. Check IndieHacker's Product Hunt for affordable, Indie-created SEO tools. Happy exploring!

Ahrefs is a popular SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tool that offers a variety of features to help website owners and marketers improve their online presence

Facing the same issue, interested in knowing what are the other tools out there that people are using

  15. 1

Same. But I use Semrush more offten. I think similarweb free version + Semrush would be a good choice.

    1. 1

Semrush is also pretty pricey though.

Unpopular opinion: the best "keyword research" one can ever do is simply talking to customers and doing digital ethnography when needed.

    1. 1

Talking to customers is great but won’t help your search ranking for people to find you.

There’s value to the tools. And sites drives millions of visitors to them with seo. And part of that is choosing the right words to go after that are high value with low competition.

      1. 1

It will help you, if you're doing it right.

And here's the thing: if the writer knows the topic inside out, they will use "keywords" naturally. Also, if the writer knows their audience inside out (probably through ethnography or similar), they will know how to cater to their needs without all the fluff of "SEO."

(another POV considering everyone else here already answered OP's question.)

        1. 1

Yup. Definitely correct. Easy to overcomplicate SEO when starting.

  17. 1

I think you should try a group buy plan. They include almost all the SEO tools in a very affordable price.

  18. 1

I use and recommend KWFinder from Mangools. But another good option is to check AppSumo. They almost always have some keyword research tools with lifetime licenses.

  19. 1

I would say use Google Keyword Planner and common sense. I realise that the tools offered by services like Ahrefs etc. are invaluable, especially for backlinks research, but if you don't have the funds for such things then go with fundamentals.

Get your content published then link to it with social media. One strategy.

I don't mind recommending Ubersuggest which has more free offerings considering the contributions it's founder has made online in the world of SEO blogging.
