AI Alt Text Generator for Accessibility & SEO

Hey everyone! After months of working on this problem, I’m excited to finally launch AltTextLab, an AI-powered tool that automatically generates descriptive alt text for images.

A gradient background with varying shades of green featuring bold white text that reads, "AI Alt Text Generator for Accessibility & SEO.".

Why I built this: Writing alt text is crucial for web accessibility and SEO, but let’s be honest – it’s a tedious task that often gets overlooked. As a blogger and marketer, I found myself either spending way too long writing alt descriptions for every image, or feeling guilty for skipping it. I figured there had to be a better way to help content creators and businesses make their images accessible and search-friendly without all the manual effort.

What AltTextLab does:

  • AI-generated alt text in seconds: You integrate service with your site, and AltTextLab uses AI to analyze it and produce a meaningful description instantly. No more “IMG_1234.jpg” or empty alt tags.

  • Improves accessibility and SEO: The alt text isn’t just a bland caption – it’s descriptive and context-aware, which means better experience for visually impaired users and better keywords for Google. (Accessibility win + SEO win!)

  • Easy to use: It works as a simple web app (no coding needed). For power users, there’s also a plugin for popular platforms (WordPress, CraftCMS, Webflow, Chrome, Zapier, Shopify coming soon and more) to generate alt text as you upload images.

  • Web Snippet – AI automation for any website: With the Web Snippet, you can add one lightweight script to your site and AltTextLab will automatically generate and serve alt text for all images – directly from the CDN. It’s like having an AI accessibility assistant running in the background.

  • Who it’s for: If you’re a marketer, blogger, online store owner, or consultant managing a website with lots of images, AltTextLab can save you time. Instead of writing dozens of alt tags by hand, you get them generated automatically – you can always tweak if needed, but the heavy lifting is done for you.

I just launched AltTextLab this week, and it’s live now. You can try it out here: AltTextLab.com (it’s free to start). I’d love for you to give it a go on one of your images and tell me what you think.

Feedback welcome: I’m looking for any and all feedback. Are the descriptions accurate? What features or integrations would make AltTextLab more useful for you? Also, if anyone passionate about web accessibility or SEO wants to collaborate or has ideas to take this further, I’m all ears.

Thank you for reading and checking out AltTextLab! This community has inspired me throughout the build, so I’m excited (and a bit nervous) to finally share it with you all. What do you think – would an AI alt-text generator help your website? Would love to hear your thoughts, questions, or suggestions!

Hey, great product! I have a quick idea for you. We are organizing a webinar with specialists who have worked with Silicon Valley startups. It will be a Q&A session about B2B SaaS, covering both marketing and technical growth. I think you would find it really useful :)
