AI founders — how are you handling HIPAA questions from users or clients?

Hey everyone đź‘‹

I built CompliAssistant™, an AI assistant that gives fast, clear explanations to HIPAA questions for founders, agencies, and SaaS teams working in healthcare.

Over the last 6 months, I’ve been surprised by how many AI builders hit the same problem:

users asking if their product is HIPAA compliant

clients expecting instant answers

confusion around what counts as PHI

uncertainty about whether AI features can be used with medical data

If you’re building anything that touches healthcare or sensitive data:

👉 How are you currently handling HIPAA-related questions?
👉 Do you answer them yourself, send them to docs, or avoid them entirely?

I’m trying to understand the specific pain points AI founders deal with so I can improve CompliAssistant™ — any insights would be super helpful.

Happy to share what I’ve learned too if anyone’s navigating compliance or PHI stuff.

Thanks!

"Hey, saw your post about handling HIPAA questions for your AI tool. That 'trust barrier' is the #1 thing that kills early B2B sales if the positioning isn't sharp. I help B2B founders lock in that 'Enterprise-Ready' trust in a 21-Day Launch Clarity Sprint. If you're open, I can engage with your landing page and tell you exactly where a compliance officer might get stuck?"

Most issues I’ve seen aren’t with storage but with how the model handles sensitive fields during processing. Have you run into issues with data normalization?

Great point — the biggest issues I’ve seen are around how models interpret fields during processing. In CompliAssistant™ I avoid sending any PHI upstream and run a lightweight preprocessing step so the model operates on clean, consistent inputs. It’s reduced misinterpretations a lot, and I’m still iterating on the edge cases.
