AI meets iPhone

I want to share my journey on how I integrated AI with the common iOS apps that we use and how I made these apps more powerful.

I have an existing app that I sell on the App Store that provides a library of shortcuts for iPhones. With the launch of ChatGPT's iOS app, a new world of possibilities opened up. I harnessed the power of the Shortcut app intent to seamlessly integrate AI capabilities into my existing shortcuts. For those unfamiliar, app intents are functions offered by app developers that can be utilized in the Shortcuts app without having to open the app itself. This also bypasses any need to the call the ChatGPT API.

Imagine this: I could retrieve a recently delivered message from one of my favorite contacts, route it to ChatGPT for a response using app intents, and then effortlessly send back the message – all automated without the need to open the ChatGPT app, or touch my phone. This streamlines the entire process and makes the interactions much more efficient. As I delved deeper, I created a plethora of AI shortcuts, enhancing and automating major iPhone apps like weather, music, files, reminders, and more. The real magic happened when I started experimenting with complex integrations, bringing together multiple apps in a single automated flow. For instance, imagine a scenario where you receive a weather alert, automatically cue your favorite music playlist, create a reminder for an upcoming event, and even send a message to a friend – all triggered by a single shortcut.

I have made over 12 of these AI shortcuts using the app intents and have published them on my app called "∞ Shortcuts for Action Button" on the iOS App Store - which you can access and download as well (only if you have an iPhone though). I will probably play around with it more and try to make more advanced stuff. Would love to hear any thoughts if anyone else has also tried to make AI shortcuts for iPhone.
