AI quoting tool that started as a WhatsApp bot for my Dad

A few months ago I built a simple WhatsApp bot for my dad.

He runs a distribution business, and one thing that always took more time than it should was creating quotations & invoices for customers. Instead of digging through product lists and manually putting together quotes, he could just send a message on WhatsApp and get a professional quotation back.

After seeing how useful it was, I thought: why not make this something other businesses can use too?

So I turned it into AutoQuote.

It's an AI-powered quotation generator that helps businesses create professional quotes in minutes instead of spending time formatting documents.

Right now the pricing is simple:

  • 3 free AI-generated quotations to try it out.

  • Unlimited manual quotations for free.

  • Upgrade only if you want unlimited AI generation.

I'm also working on integrations with popular CRMs and inventory systems so AutoQuote can generate even better, more accurate quotations using your existing business data.

The original WhatsApp bot is currently under Meta's verification review, so it's not publicly available just yet, but that's still the direction I want to take. Letting businesses create quotations from wherever they already work.

I'd love to hear any feedback, feature ideas, or criticism. I'm building this in public and improving it one step at a time.

I really like how this started by solving a real problem for your dad instead of chasing an AI trend. Those kinds of products usually have much stronger product-market fit because they're rooted in everyday workflows.

The WhatsApp-first approach also makes a lot of sense since that's already where many businesses communicate with customers.

One suggestion: consider measuring not just how many quotations are generated, but how many actually convert into sales. That could become a much stronger value proposition than simply "AI-generated quotations."

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Definitely considering your suggestions, I will have more updates rolling

I like that the starting point wasn't "how do we add AI to quoting," but "where do people already create quotes today?"

Building around an existing habit instead of introducing a new workflow often changes adoption more than adding another capability.

Agree, Sometimes solving your own problem becomes your product.

Interesting. I was actually asking from a slightly different angle.

What made you decide it was better to build around the workflow people already had instead of trying to introduce a new one?

Quoting is such a bottleneck in B2B. Are users mainly looking for speed, consistency, or higher close rates?

I am trying to get my first 100 users, I will get their feedbacks soon and share and updated. Thanks for the comment!

First 100 is less about volume and more about controlled wins.

Instead of waiting for feedback, I’d hand-place this with 10–15 businesses that already quote via WhatsApp and watch how they use it live — that usually reveals what actually sells.

If you want, I can help you map out exactly where to find those users and how to approach them so they convert, not just sign up.
