I did alot of travelling in the last 1.5 months and it's a no-brainer to use serviced apartments or AirBnB.

    Hotel Cons:

    • You need to eat-out for every single meal as there is no kitchen.
    • Many hotel pros are gone for now, e.g. on-site restaurants closed, room service very limited.
    • You need to be constantly putting your mask on to walk in-out of the building.
    • Extra charges thrown on top (e.g. £50 a day for parking...)

    AirBnB Pros:

    • Save a tonne of money by cooking your own food (this can be £100+/day saving if travelling with someone else).
    • Save money generally, it's cheaper.
    • Don't turn into a fat slob by eating-out for every single meal.

I'll only use hotels now for short unplanned business trips I think, and since remote work is the standard now I see less and less of those happening.

It makes a lot of sense to me, given that I recently stayed in a hotel in Delhi, India when I came back from Vientiane, Laos. Hotels are shared spaces and conveniently available in most business locations. But at this time people want more private space, with a work desk and separate access. AirBnb would be able to fill that need.
