Alchemist Camp 2020 Year in Review

I've written another year in review blog post just like I did last year.

It goes into detail on Alchemist Camp and related products I've been working on this year as well as some of my goals for next year.

I had set four goals for 2020:

  1. Double gross subscription sales to $28k
  2. Keep lifetime retention above 60%
  3. Launch the second product I've been working on before the first of March
  4. Finally travel to the US for an Elixir conference

I hit goals 2 and 3, missed 1 and 4.

I'll give myself a mulligan on not getting to the US this year, but the revenue growth was disappointingly slow, at about +35% instead of 2x. One major factor is that I'm working on a small niche that's only growing at a moderate rate, but the number of new competitors is growing rapidly.

Financial stats

Alchemist Camp

  • Alchemist Camp revenue: $18,846.63 (+35%)
  • Wage per hour: ~$38 (+52%)
  • Paying subscribers: 96 current
  • Lifetime retention: 60%
  • Expenses: $4901.56 (-1%)
  • Profits: $13,945.07 (+55%)

Expenses Breakdown

  • Services: $3,222.84
  • Educational: $1,678.72

On the plus side, I launched two side projects that both broke $1k and started a new podcast with another entrepreneur I greatly respect.
