Almost the Weekend! Friday Standup

By the end of July, I will be opening up the community feature of careermove.io after months of struggling to find the right niche to focus on.

Yesterday, I promoted our upcoming event to different slack groups, emails twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. We have 81 registered attendees so far. We are targeting 100 attendees. I hope to get 19 more professionals to register before next week Tuesday.

Today, I am re-working on the onboarding and first-time users' experience.

• Switch from Intercom to Crisp to provide better customer support.

07/17 Update: $2,147 in sales, $646 MRR

I had my first zero-sales for softwareideas.io day since the product launched, which really put me into a bad mood. It's funny how quickly I got used to seeing sales come in each day and how accustomed I got to the feeling. A single day where momentum stopped and I felt like a failure.

It's a big lesson in that I need to detach my self-worth from my project. I imagined that I would be more emotionally resilient to something like that happening.
Part of it is also that yesterday was a release day, where I get the opportunity to email everyone on my email list a preview of the newsletter. With 500 people I expected at least one to convert, so it was something of a double whammy.

Goals for today:

• Write one idea (I'll finally be getting ahead of schedule if I can do this!)
• Start membership site
• Share validation template with email list

By the end of July. I hope to relaunch https://getRumin.com on Product Hunt and/or Hacker News.

Today I created a video overview to showcase what Rumin is about. Further simplified the UI. And reached out to 10 BJJ gyms for user interviews.

Tomorrow I will create example data to onboard new users. And publish at least one blog post.

Reviewed the design. Wrote a spec for Zbot.
Fixed Gateway issue. Merge the PR and test the Gateway working fine.
Working on making the bot more interactive. Making it simple and easy to use.

By the end of July, I will complete the MVP of my application entirely.
Yesterday I did some light refactoring to set me up for success on the final sprint
Today I will go over what I refactored, finish up a few touches, and make plans for the work to do over the weekend.

Yesterday

• Added some more special sauce! I added intermissions for long assessments. Can show a video or pic mid-assessment when they're long ones. I did this to maintain assessment length and will see how it plays out with live users
• I also did a thorough mapping of the Common Core State Standards for learning, looked into Universal Learning Design, and talked to a teacher buddy about online learning/classes
• Last night I spent several hours going over the CSS and styling of the Assessments and made it nice enough to launch, though I'm not quite ecstatic about it, and will get some design help later

Today

• I started on a custom reporting view for assessment results and how to support ranking breakdowns for increasingly large granular units of location (neighborhood, city, county, state)
• Need to work out some place mapping from zip code via Google Maps API but not have it bankrupt me, so will use a DB Table and fill in gaps as I go
