Hey IH's!
So, I recently launched a browser extension for finding documentation faster at work. We've gotten a little over 150 installs in the last few weeks—not as great as we had hoped, but it's something. I've been doing user interviews and collecting a tonne of great feedback thus-far.
I'm realizing that with (relatively) low volume I need to be diligent about releasing new iterations and would like to do so in cohorts. I had the thought of potentially taking down the ability to access the product from our website and inviting new users in batches through a wait list-type model. This way I can see how my changes and iterations are impacting particular cohorts differently.
What do you think? Is it weird to publicly shut-off access to a product that I've already widely promoted, in lieu of a Request Early Access CTA to join a wait list?
Any other suggestions here?
🙏
150 installs are not bad! Keep it up and put some focus on sharing the extension and improve the store page. Good luck!
Thank you!
Of course not. You can always say "woww we have more demand than we can handle at the moment so we will be closing off new registrations and instead implementing a waitlist..etc"
I think its actually smart to do so, you can focus on letting in the "Right customers" not just anyone who would increase the numbers. The difference is massive and would have an impact on how the product develops. You want to have the hardcore customers in first pulling you in the right direction than everyone can come in with the product is ready. Otherwise you might end up building smth for people who are not exactly the right fit for your product, diluting its value proposition over time.
Awesome, I think you might be right! Thanks for sharing 💪💪
Good points here.
