Am I the only one who doesn't get Slack?

What's wrong with me?
Took me a while to figure out that it works with groups. You can't just sign up for slack and start talking to your friends like gchat or whatsapp.
Ahh I see. I've been noticing a handful of public (and even paid) Slack channels popping up in the hacker world. Is that like a chat room situation?
LOL, I feel exactly the same way.
Strangely, I do like Discord and they seem kind of similar.

What I really don't like in it is people use it as a forum to ask questions and get answers but, because there are just several channels available it turns to be a mess really quickly. I would understand if the number of users would be up to 5-7 but when it's used as a tool of community, it will just a mess. I can't find where I asked and who responded.
As stated previously, it works well for groups. Usually best for technical groups.
I agree. I don't see how it's different than Lync, Skype, Gchat, IRC, etc.
This is hard to answer without hearing what you mean by "doesn't get". Happy to chime in though
I've given it a few good tries over the past couple years. Maybe the interface is too visually busy for me? Maybe I feel excluded from the elite club that knows all the shortcodes and tricks you're supposed to use? It's all very chaotic to me. Well aware I'm in the minority here...
