Amateur Stock Investor Seeks Fintech Whiz for Fun Portfolio App

Hello!

Most investors rebalance their portfolios. Usually, they sell some portion of their positions and reallocate. I don't use this strategy because I don't like dealing with the taxes. I have a method for rebalancing that only involves contributing to positions that are under their target percentages.

Doing this requires math and possibly even algorithms that I know nothing about. I've done my best to prototype this idea using Google Sheets and pulling in data from Google Finance, but there is still a lot of manual manipulation.

I'd love to get this idea fully fleshed out with the ability to pull in my specific portfolio info from Fidelity or at the very least get something running that requires a little manual input, but handles all the math and boolean operations.

If you think you have the skillz to set something like this up, I'd love to chat!

    Hi Michael !

I've had some attempts of defining trading models about 12 years ago, butI didn't have the time or the energy to finalize anything, than the financial crisis came in 2008/2009, and I have slowly moved away from trading.

I started to look into this ideas again, recently with the benefit of new tools available in 2020, more than a decade later.

I'd like to hear more about portfolio rebalancing, I could probably set up a model and help you test it.

Drop me an email at andrei@bluesource.ro

    Thanks !

PS if you think a low-code version of this could be accomplished with Coda or Airtable, let me know :)

I do think a low-code version could be achieved. I did find out yesterday that M1 offers the service I want for free. They call it Dynamic Rebalancing. If you look into that, you'll see what I was hoping to achieve with my spreadsheet or low-code solution.
