Here's an interesting idea for a productized service. Let's call it artwork-repurposing-as-a-service or artwork-editing-as-service.
The idea is... I mean if you plan to work on this idea, this is what your HOW IT WORKS might look like :)
HOW I STUMBLED UPON THIS IDEA:
I run a marketing agency and time and again, we get requests for artworks/creatives. For instance, creatives for a content piece on Labour Day, International Yoga Day, Thanksgiving Day, etc. BTW, we hit a significant milestone last month, and I hope to share my learnings sometime soon (11k MRR with 55-58% margin)
Now, these clients are not looking for the next creative breakthrough when it comes to the artworks they are looking for (we make it very clear when we sign up a client that we're not a creative agency. We do PPC, paid social and content marketing really well.. and that's about it). And they want their creatives, something decent and quick enough.
So, we ask them to send us the references/images for inspiration, or we tell them we will take up some stock images / creative from Freepik.
I noticed that while doing all this, it has helped us ship great creatives quickly. Also, kudos to Freepik for an image bank running into millions. The chances of you seeing the same image coming from two brands are significantly lesser than we seeing Two and Half Men return in this life.
I feel the ideal segment for this idea could be consultants, bloggers, podcasters, marketers, SaaS companies, e-commerce stores, gyms, small businesses, mom and pop stores and almost everyone except the big billion corporations.
SOMETHING ELSE:
One of the things I have learned over the last couple of years is that people pay for your brain and/or execution (extension = your team). Add "accountability' to the mix, and that whole thing becomes more valuable. Also, tasks that require you to "think" / "strategize" / set up "models" or "frameworks" etc. take more time and effort to scale linearly. I think that's why "do-it-all" agencies and consulting firms find it a bit difficult to scale. And that's why people recommend to set up process documents, templates, etc.
The dichotomy is, people ought to pay more for "brain" tasks and as agency /productized service owners, we tend to pick up ideas/business models/tasks that do not require continuous use of "think" mindset.
Now, I'm not saying a productized service does not need you to think at all.
And that's where the above mentioned idea shines. The creative expectations (because they know no bounds) are set right from Day 1. You take images from Freepik and tweak them. The team just has to make something better rather than starting something from scratch. Less time. Fewer edits. Happy clients :)
It's more scalable too.
