Pivoting a simple landing page into the core product because of immediate user demand is the ultimate definition of "following the signal." Congrats on the quick shift!
Many founders get stuck waiting for Google Play's review/testing bottlenecks, so turning the web landing page into a standalone web app is a smart move. Web links are so much easier to distribute and share than forcing someone to download an app just to view a single discount code.
Regarding the "every deal can promote it" approach: are you relying on programmatic SEO to get these deals indexed by Google, or is it mostly users sharing links organically on social channels?
