Another perspective always helps

Shoutout to @louisswiss for taking some time earlier this week to chat with me about marketing. I asked him about increasing traffic, but he was quick to say that shouldn't be my focus.

Instead, Louis encouraged me to really consider if my landing page was built to convert. Long

Glad you used my cheatsheet, Matthew!

This is looking way better already :)

Overall I think you still need to answer these questions better:

    • Why are artist blocks so bad for your creativity/work?
    • Tell me I can overcome them whenever I want instead of waiting for a magic dose of "inspiration"!
    • How does your product fix my artist block? Am I drawing with someone else? Am I getting motivation from a community? Is this a challenge?

This needs to be answered in the titles not in the body as people rarely read the body but they always skim through the headlines/titles. The body should only be used to justify or provide more info on whatever the headline said.

Hope this helps and good luck!
    Pedro

P.S. How did you find my cheatsheet?

      Pedro, thanks for that feedback!

Now that you've said it, it's hard for me to believe that I'd overlooked that. My titles were really going to waste.

I've updated my headers as follows (really trying to explain the product without the body copy):

      Let's conquer artist's block

Is artist's block holding you back?

Don't let your expectations get in the way of you making art

Coming up with everything on your own just slows you down

Don’t risk the rut, squash your artist's block before it's too late

      Let’s conquer artist's block together.

We're drawing comics together just one panel at a time

Why wait for inspiration? We bring it to you panel by panel

We think you should draw for fun and connection - not just for show

Paneljam is built by an artist, for artists and made to grow with you

      It's about community

      Ready? Set. Jam!

      Every comic is a surprise

Maybe I should still revisit those last three, which I've left as they were, but yeah, the majority of my headers really weren't very useful before. The problem was staring me right in the face!

I've been familiar with your articles for a while, but I recently noticed your post on Designer News which had me checking out the cheat sheet again.

      Thanks!

    "LET'S CONQUER
    YOUR ART BLOCK"

I'm not an artist, so maybe I'm not a relevant audience, but I didn't really know what this meant. After a moment of pause, I thought maybe you meant like "my block" on the street, i.e. my neighborhood. Like "Let's take over the art world!".

Below the fold, I saw "IS ART BLOCK HOLDING YOU BACK?". And then I realized you meant like "writer's block".

Is "Art block" a common term or you're just coining it here?
Even if it is, I guess my feedback is within the first 1000ms of being on the page, I was confused.

The rest of the page looks pretty awesome though. I like how there is a screenshot, pretty art and colors, a story, etc.

I don't draw ever. Maybe that means I'm of no use to you. But because I don't identify that way, I wasn't very compelled to click on "Join the Fun" after reading "...artists just like You". If I were you I'd have a plan for "What is the best possible thing this page convinces a non-artist to do?".
I am kind of curious to see other peoples' creations, but not enough to hand out my email. I probably would have clicked a secondary CTA to browse a few completed comics.

      Hey, thanks for the feedback!

"Art block" is a common phrase among digital artists, but it's used interchangeably with "Artist's Block". I've changed it to the latter to be more easily understood by a wider set of people.

I've added new secondary CTAs to "Browse Comics". There were a couple of links before that linked to featured comic jams, but these weren't very obvious at all, so thanks for pointing that out!
