Another reason why you need to start promoting your solution right away instead of “growing organically”, good example

This feels like a bit of a strawman argument - I don't think anyone would argue that getting unsolicited press is a viable long-term strategy. This is not organic growth, in either the general sense or the "organic search" sense.

Organic growth is delivering a product / experience to your customers that they love, and facilitating the sharing of that product / experience with other potential customers.

If the author were able to say "this press got us 200 new customers, and each of those customers refers 2.5 new customers every 6 months," then he'd have a step toward a revenue generating machine. [And of course, capitalizing on this free publicity with active marketing when interest is piqued would've made a lot of sense...]

The focus on doing things that are repeatable is spot on. Once is an accident, twice is a trend.

I have never been a fan of organic stuff, I mean, yes, it has the long term benefits but, the kind of wait one has to do to finally getting picked up really pisses me off.. I kind of rely on social media and ppc to get the immediate traffic. And, believe me, if what you are promoting is presented well, things get picked up faster organically!

I loved this write up Andre.

I will remember your slightly embarrassing board room story to remind myself to understand the why behind the results I see for my own business. Was it in my control and it is repeatable? Don't count on those "magical" occurrences we see.

    Thanks for sharing 💪

What is the difference between growing organically and promoting your business?

Doesn't growing organically mean you grow without external funding?

Growing organically in this context means that owners rely on users joining them because of their “the best of the best” solution. Users will share their experience with others etc. maybe couple of blogs on well-known recourses and that’s it. It is not about funding, it is about organic growth on the initial steps which might be even 300% percent from a scratch. This will work for some time of course but not like with help of planned marketing activities.
