Any advice for a successful "Show HN" ?
Hi,
i spent the past few weeks fixing bugs and improving my RSS reader (https://aktu.io), and i feel that i'm now in a good place to do a "Show HN" without feeling too embarrassed :-)
Do you have any advice on how to do it, or on how to do a successful product hunt ? Are some days better than others ?maybe post at certain hours ? etc...

The first thought that came to my head after clicking your link is that I wouldn't know this is a RSS reader if I had not read your post here. I'd link to a page that explains succinctly what aktu.io is instead of dumping people straight into the app.

Better, but I am seeing some display issues on Chrome on Mac:
"Declutter, Only one app for all your news!"
First, the wording is a little off. But on my screen it cuts off at "your". You can't even see "news". Other items in the animation also get cut off.
I think the second part of that page has too many words. "Aktu was born out of the desire... " 😴😴😴
So it's better, but I 'd look for all the landing page advice that's been given in this forum and rework things.
Yep i guess i'd need to rework things, and to have better english wording.
The second part is mostly there for SEO purpose... :-) might be better to push this paragraph to the bottom of the page.

This is a great question and something I worry about too lately as I'm going to launch my latest app (https://ohmytimeline.com) and I don't find the way on how to do it.
I'm literally postponing the hard launch once and again and I think that there needs to be a time when I finally decide myself on finally trying to make it visible.

Thursday evening or so, mornings are incredibly noisy. Wait a week or two if something big is going on (like the Facebook drama this month). Also you can delete your post during the first couple of hours if there's no reaction and try again next week.

As for the Thursday evening, do you mean US Pacific Time ? and why Thursday :-) ?

Around 6-8 PM Pacific – at this time people on both coasts aren't sleeping. Thursday evening is a sweet spot because most companies wouldn't make an announcement or promote content close to Friday but Friday mornings are still noisy.

Be genuine, humble and if there are flaws/bugs admit them and say you are working on them, post a comment yourself on the post explaining your backstory and motivation, answer the questions in the comments. No need to buy upvotes or need for a large following, guaranteed if HN likes it it will get picked up, I submitted, no upvotes for 30 minutes but ended up on nr. 1 with a total of about 270 upvotes in the end wich landed me ~1000 subs.

As for the title, did you just use what first came to mind, or did you try to come up with something more sophisticated ?
I was thinking something like that:
Show HN: Goole News + Google Reader = Aktu RSS Reader
What do you think ?
I went with the "I made a" but the mods are quite strict so they will change it to "show HN: ${shortDescription} pretty quickly"
I think you need some followers before that are hyped for the launch. Otherwise I fear it might get buried.
I just did a "Show IH" post yesterday, at the same time I spun up a conversational post.
My "Show IH" post got zero comments and not a single upvote. Whilst my conversational thread got 10+ comments and a couple of upvotes.
