Any advice on my landing page or the product itself?

I finally took the time to build an actual product out of a very basic tool I built for myself a while back and I'm hoping to launch it into the wild in a couple weeks. I built a very useful notes plugin for JetBrains IDEs that integrates with the awesome Evernote note taking service. I named it Spellbook.

I built a simple launch page describing the product and I was hoping to get some feedback from the indie hackers community - https://www.getspellbook.dev

Also, here's a short description of Spellbook and why I took the time to build it:

I use Evernote as basically a development knowledge repository. I use it to store code snippets, implementation notes, stack overflow screenshots, CL commands, etc. I wanted an easy way to access this info from my IDE while I'm working without having to break my focus, leave the IDE and go to the browser or another app. So I built my own solution for Intellij using the Evernote API.

I didn't actually realize how much I really needed a tool like this until I started using the very basic alpha version of the plugin in Intellij. Before Spellbook, when I wanted to access my "knowledge repo" in Evernote to find a code snippet, I had to leave the IDE and go to the browser, which sometimes for me was less than productive. I'd find myself on reddit, or hacker news, or indie hackers reading cool stuff instead of actually working lol. I can say that my productivity has definitely jumped since using this plugin, as I'm spending less time in the browser and more time in my IDE getting work done. I figured if I benefitted so much from this tool, then maybe other devs would too. So I took the alpha version, developed a few more useful features and now I'm working with the JetBrains marketplace team to get the plugin released into the JetBrains plugin marketplace.

Hi! I think the message on your landing page is very clear. I perfectly understand this product and I like it. Here is the thing: I like it, but I wouldn't pay for it. Why? Just a feeling that such plugins should be free. Yeah, I know..

Maybe there is a better way to monetize your plugin? Random thoughts.

    • Can you can make it a freemium model?
    • Can you partner with sites that sell code snippets / templates?
    • Can you analyze and sell some data? B2B?

Thank you for giving a look-see at my product and for your feedback. I get your point that some might consider a notes plugin something that should be free. I'm planning to add more integrations to the plugin to allows users to access other sources of "notes" from the IDE, i.e. GitHub gist's and GitLab Code Snippets. Perhaps I could leverage that to implement some sort of freemium model. I do think that there is some value in what Spellbook currently offers from a feature basis. Especially at the price point I am planning for release. But maybe I should get more feedback about the product to determine if another biz model might be a better fit.

You've raised a very interesting point, and I thank you for that. 👍🏾

Hi Corey, congrats for launching your marketing page. I think it's clear enough so you can show it to your target audience now.
Go and post some articles on dev.to, collect emails from Github and do some cold emails.
    Good luck 😉
