My buddy and I made an iOS app that has some organic traction...we were featured by Apple and getting daily downloads. But I'd like to up our game and was thinking to reach out to influencers in my space using Twitter to introduce our app....I'm hoping they would somehow include our article in a blog post or something.
I'm just sending them a tweet saying something like, "Hi [name]! I just came across your [article reference]1Nice! In case you're doing another roundup, would love your thoughts about our app Happy Plant - App to remember to water plants - 75k users/Featured by Apple."
Is this too aggressive when I don't have a relationship with the writer? Does this work over Twitter or would email be better? Here's our app if interested https://happyplantapp.com/
Consider giving your user tools to share stuff related to their plants on social media. Need be fun and have nice design.
I don't think it's too forward to reach out to people who might be interested in what you're up to! I've been searching for tips on how to do this as well. The main things I've seen repeated are:
Don't ask over Twitter. If you tweet or DM someone it shout be for an email address.
Be considerate of their time.
And probably most important, you need to be able to offer something of value to them as well. If you can build a mutually beneficial relationship, you'll probably see bigger benefits.
thx mate. Asking for their email is another angle to test. I wrote to 5 peeps yesterday with what I wrote above but no replies unfortunately. Gotta keep testing :)
