Any indie makers in the music business?
If so.. share your creations! is it a hard sell? What are the marketing channels for you product and who are your customers?
I’m considering creating a product with high potential for producers/mixing engineers but I know the music industry is one of hardest industry to make a buck for artists. Wondering if a subscription model have any merits
My brother is a sound engineer and the only thing I can say is that the post production softwares market is incredible: giant players dominating with overwhelming pricing, whereas artists as you said are struggling to make money... So maybe there's indeed room for improvement out there :-)
It’s funny how there’s such a huge gap between starving musicians and the top %1 of artists and studios who can afford these high-end tools. Hopefully there’s somewhere in the mid range where I can find a market. Thanks for your reply!

What an achievement. Hats off to you sir, can’t get any better than that.
As for me — not a business. Just an idea and a domain name.
I want to create a way to discover and manage reference tracks. They are essential in the production/songwriting process as a guiding force for sound choice, arrangement, staying relevant, etc. They are also very crucial in the mixing and mastering process and let you compare loudnesses and frequencies levels in your genre.
Current methods are basically creating playlists on Spotify and downloading single mp3/wav files into the recording software.
I want to base it all on YouTube and get the genre recommendations from Reddit. I’ve built a music player app a few years ago (https://headsetapp.co) that uses both YT and Reddit and people really liked it. I now want to take the concept a step further and build something that will also be a sustainable business.
