Mine's 7 months old now. Time flies!
Honestly, it's hard to manage time. I'm a freelancer and trying to do some indiehacking on the side. I used to get in a good full work week. Now I'm struggling to get full four workdays. Not complaining though, that little rascal is the best thing ever!
One of the benefits I experience is that when I work on some of the indiehacking projects I'm very conscious about my time so everytime I work on it I can knock out a very specific thing. Progress that's slow is still progress π

Not really π Just be time conscious. Plan little things you know you like to tackle ahead and make sure you know you can do it in an ~hour or so. Also sleep above all else. You're going to need it π

I have a new 3 month'er (I refuse to talk in weeks... it's stupid... why does everyone do that! :-) )...
Thanks for posting this... it's been a whirlwind and I'm curious to see this thread. Being a new dad has destroyed by work schedule and I very naively believed I would still have some time in the evenings when he was 'sleeping' to finish up work... Now I'm a morning person and finding a new routine until it all changes again next week! Honestly, I've been very lucky and our kid has been great. It's just been a crazy adjustment to everything that I do!

Hey Dave, thank you I think we have to talk more about this challenging transition. You love your baby but it is totally normal when you don't like being a parent. It is so human. For mums and dads. We have to talk this is really hard.

Thanks! And I think there is way too much pressure (especially for my wife) around what the experience is supposed to be... not necessarily what it really is. Not everything is magical... but that's ok. That's living in reality not some sort of fantasy land!
Yes, you are right, it is more challenging if you are a woman, We have imaginary expectations about becoming a mother. It makes everything so much harder π₯²
I really like this TEDtalk, Alexandra Sacks is a Reproductive Psychiatrist and gives us a great point of view! I don't know how strongly can I recommend to watch it with your wife :)

First year's been a waiting game. Waiting for him to go to sleep. Waiting for him to crawl. Waiting for him to walk. Only 17 more years of this to go.
As a dad of 8 and 9 year olds myself, one thing you should add in your info. course is that "one size does not fit all". What may work for 1 dad may not work for another. Perhaps, you can interview dads and share their experiences. That can be useful. All the best.

Thanks! Yes, I'll be a first-time parent. Excited. Trying to prepare myself not to focus so much on work and make the transition into spending time with my son.
Yes, you are right, First weeks never come back. And fathers when they are getting used to taking care of a baby early as possible, They are so much more comfortable later on. Have you ever heard of "kangaroo care" π¦? It is a way of early skin-to-skin contact. We recommend doing it early as possible after the birth with mothers and also fathers.

At dinner time, and evenings I can recommend a two things
1-When kids are involved cooking process they show up better eaters. So you may find a way to their contribution of preparing dinner. Spreading cheese on the salad, bringing slices of bread to the table, deciding together what to cook or even picking veggies or fruits at shopping
2-Sometimes kids feel super uncomfortable in their high chairs. Δ°magine yourself on a chair that doubles or triples your height, your feed is not on the ground. UX of the high chair is not designed for babies but designed for adults. Check if there are any ways to make it more comfortable. :)
